  • Ah....finally a decent review.....My God, all of other don't pass the real sound, that is wonderfull. Please don't put poor cellphone camera review.... :)

  • BTW, does it overheats?

  • U have put it at heater.

  • in time dude.

  • i have this amp 2008 model and really im pissed , my reverb not working at all and i have huge feedback even after changing tubes . However i like amp sound it has something into it .

  • @loggsoul take it to a tech

  • Nice marshall amp, and great playing too!

do you think I can find one for 300 to 400$?

  • @VincentPepin52 Highly doubt it, but good luck. 500 if you are lucky, I got mine used in perfect condition for 600. I absolutely love the amp though, it's worth saving for

  • whats the volume at 6:20 ??

  • is there enough distortion in it for metal? i mean not like slipknot... but metallica or megadeth stuff..

  • Iv'e got a Epiphone Les Paul Standard and a roland 20W. And that sounds pretty bad when i play with my buddy on drums. Does the bad sound come from the low 20W, the les paul or both? And is this a good amp for Guns N' Roses, Avenged Sevenfold etc. ? i could realy need an reply :)

  • Excellent demo - very informative. Thanks.

  • awesome!!! what were you playing from 0;00 to 0:35!? :)

  • @volcom1722 le grange by zz top

  • do you think this one is better than the tsl 60 because hear these tones of the tsl on youtube ?? thanks

  • Is it any good for metal? Sounds nice judging from the video.

  • I wonder what footswitch did you got with the amp..

    I got the 1 way LED and i can't switch to OD2

  • @candyman3108

yeah me too, it really sucks! i thought they gave me the wrong one first..

  • @novajocke Eventually,I ordered the original footswitch for 50 €,everything is working

  • I had purchased a new one back in 2001, I liked the sound alot at the time, especially the crunch channel. It had plenty of gain on tap and sounds best with humbuckers in my opinion. However, after about two years I started having problems with it. After being on for about 40 minutes it would cut out on me, almost like volume swells. I took it to a certified tech who totally retubed and biassed it, but after just a few days the problem returned so I sold it. It did seem to run very hot.

  • on the back with the speaker outs..theres a lead going to the 8ohm input and next to that theres a switch with either the choice of 8ohm or 16 ohms..does it matter which is selected?? cheers mate..

  • @fretboarder yes, the amp and speaker load must match otherwise you will damage the amp

  • so i should have both set to 8ohm on the back of the amp when im just using the amps speaker..cheers mate.

  • @fretboarder both what? there is only one switch. it needs to be set to the ohm setting of the speaker. look on the speaker to see if it is 8 ohm or 16 ohm.

  • and if you are using more than one speaker you need to calculate the total ohms of the speakers depending on if they are wired in parallel or series

  • yes theres one switch but there's 2 speaker outputs..il check what speaker is in there ...cheers..right now they are both set to 8

  • Comment removed

  • if you are using the original celestion goldback you need to set the rear switch to 160hm .and put a small fan behind it if you are worried about it getting too hot.

  • @pauldavtzn yep thats what i did recently i love this amp with my lp.

  • @dvschsa

has it any connection for reprobox?

  • haven't got a clue what you mean

  • @dvschsa

I mean that output which is on amplification heads. Some combos have a special output to cabinet.

I'am sorry for my previous question, I have problems with my english music terms

  • yeah, there is an external speaker out in addition to the normal speaker out,

  • Im getting 1 after christmas

  • where do you learn all these cool licks you do on the clean channel?

    thanks and great video!

  • country licks? i dunno picked it up along the way i guess :) , have a look at people like brett mason, doug seven, albert lee on youtube, there are a load of demonstration vids.

  • @dvschsa

OK thanks for your reply mate!

  • @dvschsa

I know it's not going to sound as good as a head+cab but can you get a close tone to a DSL50 or something?

    thanks again

  • "as good" is a subjective term, i prefer the sound of combos.

  • @dvschsa

ok, you can get a good lead solo tone with these amps?

    thanks

  • what sound are you going for? metal?

  • @dvschsa

    nah cant stand metal :L

more like a classic rock kind of sound...maybe angus young or slash?

    thanks

  • this amp has a more saggy sound due to the output valves, it'll do acdc ok but for that horrible slash sound get a jcm 800

  • @dvschsa

is it a powerful sounding amp when you rip up a solo? are the higher notes quite thick?

    cheers

  • the demo is there, listen to it and make your own mind up

  • @dvschsa

ok thanks for all your help

I think im going to buy this amp :)

  • great review :)

but, you can'tget a slash tone on here? dam...

do you know about a sum 41 or green day sound.. dave baksh (formerly of sum 41) used a dsl 50. are they similar... is it worth £300? help appreciated :)

  • good video, my 401 is a late 2006 so i dont have the overheating problems older ones have, but if yours is getting to hot i hear its not actualy down the the valves, i hear cutting a hole in the top of the case right infont or behind the handle and making that into an air vent helps because this is where the heat it coming from and its not getting out because theres no vent

  • @scottishguyiam i have now done the "vent" thing, but i can tell you that all teh heat is coming from the power valves after having a look inside.

  • yes there will be alot of heat from the valves inside the amp, but as far as i know the heat that causes the problem is inside the amp head part and not from the valves as they are outside the head, part, so putting the vent ontop should let the heat out from inside the head and stop it over heating, it will still get warm but should cause any problems this way, if your worried about the heat from the valves put a fan behind the amp to keep them cool

  • iv not put a vent on my own but i have seen someone that has dont it to his and he says he has never had a problem with heat now, it certainly wont do it any harm though

  • @dvschsa so has the vent thing not done anything? i was thinking of doing it on mine..
