She's so cute! I teach ESL (English as a Second Language) in Brazil and I'm using this video tomorrow for a cooking+vocabulary lesson ... Thanks a lot! :)
@emanuellip1 That's awesome! I will tell Gabby :) I hope her English is clear enough for your students to understand. You should make the cake in class, then they would never forget it :D
@EmmeJayKay Ain't that the truth! I just figure they tried to make the cake and failed. Not that it's at all hard (scheech, if a 4 year old can do it...), but some people... you know....
i did it it was amazing sweetheart make lots more stuff and you will be a great cook and people are gonna get joulous youre choclate cake is scrumptus
@awesomegirlavailable Well, if you want to make a chocolate cake you kind of do. I guess you could just grate a ton of dark chocolate into it instead...
@awesomegirlavailable Well... you could try... I haven't had a lot of success with vanilla cake in a cup though. I've tried that, and spice, and berry, and for some reason they just don't seem to work as well. Give it a go though and let me know how it works out!! And if you find a recipe that does work then come back and share!! :)
@stellaandreanna Haha - the amount of times I've done that kind of thing!! I make bread and I've missed the salt (disgusting), the oil (rock hard) and once I even forgot to put the mixer blade in the bread maker (a disgusting lump of unmixed but cooked ingredients!). I really shouldn't cook late at night when I'm on the phone...
I'll be darned a million times over if Gabby isnt the cutest chef on this planet! She looked so sweet and I LOVED how she giggled with glee everytime she used an ingredient! I watched the video 5 times and shed a few tears cause I missed my darling, adorable niece so very much :( Thanks so much <3
@JoycexSuJu You can use Hershey Baking Cocoa, or Ghirardelli Unsweetened Baking Cocoa. I think you'd find them with the baking ingredients in your supermarket, near the flour, sugar, etc.
@JoycexSuJu I don't see why not, but you'd probably have to adjust other amounts. Chocolate syrup also has sugar and liquid (probably milk and oil of some description). It's also not as strong as cocoa powder. I'm not an expert at substitution but I'd probably use about 3 tablespoons of syrup, cut the sugar down to 3 Tablespoons, and the milk and oil each down to 2.5 tablespoons. It might take some experimentation. We make it so often I just buy cocoa powder, which is good for Brownies too
@jan12359 No cocoa makes it a little harder. You could try grating unsweetened (or very dark) chocolate, but I don't know how well it will mix when it's cooking. It might be better to melt it in the microwave in the cup, then mix in the oil (so the chocolate doesn't stick to the sides and the bottom, then all the other ingredients. If you are in the USA you'd use about 1/2 an oz unsweetened chocolate (1/2 square)
ps. I haven't tried this, just thinking what might work. Let me know how it goes.
@jan12359 You can leave it out, or you can substitute it for any 'extract' that you think will go with chocolate cake (if you have others, strawberry might work) or you could add a spoon of jelly/jam, best with no seeds I think. I've used raspberry jam and it tasted good but didn't like the seeds. You can also substitute alcohol, like rum or brandy. Good luck, let me know how it goes :)
@JoycexSuJu I've tried a mixed spice cake, and a white chocolate with raspberry jam, and they were okay, but I need to do more experimenting to find some good alternatives. Unfortunately, when they don't work I have to eat it anyway...
oh my gosh this was like a fudge brownie, it was so good. It didnt turn out rubbery at all, and i heated it up for 3 min.. I guess it's just my microwave
She's so cute. I'm 11 and I tried this (I love cooking) and it came out good. I tried it without the vanilla and chocolate chips. And instead of milk I used water. :D
I tried a different version of this recipie about 2 years ago and it went horribly wrong! I decided to try this one today and it was amazing! :D thank you Gabby! :)
@PSPbyLaura Yay! We also tried a few and had several disasters. And experimented with different flavors, white chocolate and berry, spice, etc, and really, this is the only one I've found that is worth sharing :)
@munchkinjj123@munchkinjj123 Awesome!! I love it most because we eat the whole thing in one sitting, so I can't quietly continue eating it when the kids are in bed :)
Great! In the meantime, could she make me a batch of cookies? I like chocolate chip. And oatmeal raisin. And double chocolate and gingersnap and snickerdoodle (with frosting). Thanks.
