I've got a Sony Xplod as well, hit's real hard-and that's just free airing on it's own on a small micro-HI-FI amp made for 2 4"s. Free airing I can feel the bass punching through me- and i'm not even cranking it! Sony are not bad - there a respectable brand, don't hate Xplods because they were sold in Walmart, my one is insane. Wating for a box and it's partner to turn up, along with a 2000 watt amp (1000 watts each side)

Honestly, sony is for people that dont like bass that much. Even though there is brands with alot more bass and alot more sq, (lol) doesnt me they suck. If you put sony in bandpass box were you cant hear the distortion, then there pretty good. (lol) I'm not gonna lie, i hate sony's guts. i really like the sony xplod head unit/ cd player. but im not too fond of their subs. i personaly have a kicker compvr 12". not tryin to brag or anything, but i honestly believe it hits if not harder than the same as 2 sony xplods. my buddy has almost the exact same setup and mine is just as good as his.

@DATBOIJAY63 There's a pretty good chance they may take some damage. Boss slightly over rates their subs. 750 rms is probably like 650-600. Turn the levels down on the amp a little bit and break the subs in for about a week and you should be good to go.

@DATBOIJAY63 You'll be fine, under powering subs isnt bad for the sub. It just means you aren't using 100% of it's potential bass. I had 2 Sony Xplod 1200 w max subs running on a 200 w amp in mono and it was excellent sound quality. With that said, I was using a 500$ amp (when it was new, Carver ftw) You will be fine, try to run them in mono 1 ch and always base things off of the RMS values.

ya'll dont know what the hell your talking bout with wiring 4 subs. lol you want them to be at .5 ohms, or 1 ohm per channel for the most power out of your amp. i got 4 type r's being pushed by an "1800" watt amp wired down to .5 ohms with stock battery and alternator and a soundstream 3 farad cap, I have my amp actually putting out 4800 watts max at .5 ohms. basically get the ohm load as low as possible so their is as little resistance as possible.

no , if you had 4 sony xplods and they were all 4ohms each, wire them in pairs, so take two subs and wire them in series, take the last 2 subs and also wire them in series. you would be left with two 8 ohm connections. now if you wire those 2 in series, you would get 16ohms

Yeah Put 2 In each box wire them in series and That would put it at 8-ohms if i put all four in one box it and wire them in series that would be 16 Ohms Im gonna put 2 in each box and wire them in series that would put it at 8-ohms per-channel there for 16-ohms completely :)

I used to have a Rockford Fosgate Power 1001bd amp pushing just over 500Wrms @ 4ohms to four 10" Sony subs. It was a loud and solid system! It was louder than lots of other systems, but there were others that were louder than mine as well. It really depends on how a system is tuned and installed. I've seen lots of Rockford, Kicker, MTX systems installed with shit quality in shit boxed, and Sony and Pioneer systems installed properly that slam! In your case though, keep the Pioneers, seriously.

personal opion..ive been building boxes for over 6 years and im telling all of you this no matter the sub brand weather its kicker, MTX, Rockford, or my personal favioret JL if you dont have a good box you dont have anything take your "subs" out of the box hook em up and what do you hear? nothing thow it in a box and thats where you can hear something. I put 2 of these sonys in my grandsons car and they sound almost as good as a high quality set because i hand made the box.
