  • lydian sounds like the lost woods

  • Lydian completely sounds like The Simpsons.

  • This is the best short lesson I have got ever.Heee haaaw..

  • oh no! he inflicted math upon my brain!!!! D:

  • When he says "...Cause I'm a complicated guitar player!" it sounds like he's mocking me. Like, "Yeah. YOU'RE the complicated guitar player of us two."

  • Thank You Mr. Gilbert you have made me a better guitar player

  • The little bit at 8:34 Is pure win.

  • ayoko nung tone nya dito. hahaha

  • 5:55 sounds like Saria's Song from Zelda Ocarina of time xD

  • anyone else noticed paul apparently hates piano as an instrument? "unlike piano, you can choose where to play the notes" "unlike piano, on guitar, you have vibratto and bends" "took this idea from piano players, and to me the guitar is a far more difficult instrument" lol

  • @thediem667 Lot of musicians learn to either resent or appreciate the piano. Sometimes both.

  • paul gilbert is my god :)

  • the 3 notes he plays in a row at around 5:50 sounds like something from zelda, ocarina of time

more specificly. the song lost woods.

seriously, listen to the first 3 notes of that song

  • @Worm101v2 yep, noticed it immediately. Glad you did too. Once you know however that Saria's song is formed on quite a basic lydian shape it's just not surprising.

But anyway, Ocarina of Time was a great game

  • he did a sweep! oh my god

  • Mr. Gilbert, oh sorry, lol

  • i love paul gilbert

  • hed be the best teacher

  • man, do i want him to teach me guitar!

  • haha did he say "Lets have a look at me right hand" with an irish accent? 0:48

  • he also said "Metul" kind of irish at 1:17

  • he totally did. lol that's some funny crap.

  • yes haha

  • Lmfao.

  • Wow, I'm sure Paul would make an awesome music teacher :D

He's such a nice guy, and very funny as well.

Laughed kinda hard at 'You can start calling me Mr. Gilbert... Don't do that, that'd be weird' xD

  • i'm not really into shredding etc. but just love listening to Paul teaching :D

  • you can start calling me Mr. Gilbert....

Don't do that.. that'd be weird.

  • dugg for math

  • oh MATH!! oh the HORROR lol..:)

  • 0:46 - Easybeats - 'Friday on my Mind'

  • Technically no, but I get what you mean!

  • Mr Gilbert lol. School would rock with a teacher like that.

  • @Roodah Dude, if Paul were a teacher, the amount of illegal student-teacher relationships would fall to 0...because everybody would understand why it happened and nobody would get convicted

  • @Guitarhero617 whaaaaat?

  • pare, saan mu nakuha ung vid?

  • guitar world mag pre =)

  • does that c lydian bit remind anyone else of the simpsons theme?

  • Actually The Simpsons theme is written in C Lydian

    Or so I heard :P

From Dave Weiner in one of his Riff of the Week videos

  • i had a class with him and he is such a nice guy and awesome teacher thanks to him I'm motivated to play guitar every day

  • Technical difficulties uses lydian, in the main riff.

  • wow nagtuturo ng shred galing nmn hahahaha!!!!!!!!

  • "let's have a look at me right hand"

    :D

  • "why the would you ever want to learn such a simple exercise? its too simple for me, cause i'm a complicated guitar player" had me laughing for 5 minutes.

  • He's goofy as hell :) And that's the reason, besides his talent, that makes me watch his lessons over and over :)

  • I wish I'd had a teacher like Paul. At least I can check this stuff out thanks to him and YouTube.

  • whoa his sweep was perfect

  • wish he could be my teacher. he's great

  • ya then you could be bukethead

  • Great stuff! Pablo rules.

  • some people are awesome teachers. some are awesome players. he is both a virtuoso and such a great guitar teacher, it's just hard to imagine. bottoms up for Mr. Gilbert!

  • I can say the same for Rusty Cooley. Check out his new DVD Fretboard Autopsy videos on here. Rusty has the knowledge but for the most part the true heart of a teacher/player. It's not about what Paul or Rusty can do, but about us learning and progressing.

  • i didn't watch so many of his deeds, i'm not into specifically that way of of shredding (call it extreme shred :P), but based the several short clips i've seen him teaching i can agree in 100%.

well. it's good there are pros who like to share their knowlege ;]

  • this is the best lesson i've watched in years.

  • awesome, thanks!
