  • the old 2D animation has much more soul than anything they put out now. Ursula is incredible

  • one of the best songs.

  • Ursula is sexy and funny.

    I love her.

She is one of the best villain !

  • 4:12 ok im out

  • why does ursula remind me of the ultimate drag queen?

  • @KyleOgilvie1 Her design was based off a drag queen forget who but if you look it up I'm sure they'll say.

  • Ah, Disney. Teaching children to always read the contract before they sign it.

  • Remember Kidos! It's not pure evil til it's Disney evil! :D hahaha brilliant way to describe disney

  • I hereby grant unto URSULA, the Witch of the sea... one voice, in exchange for *GIBBERISH* for eternity. Signed,

You really have to read these contracts. Oh wait you can't. URSULA HAS DEVELOPED WHAT BANKS, CAR DEALERS, INSURANCE COMPANIES AND LAWYERS HAVE WORKED ON FOR YEARS: A CONTRACT THAT CAN'T BE READ!

  • @artistwithouttalent Yup. Disney villians are the best con-artists. Ursula always targets those who are desperate and down on thier luck... when they start to have second thoughts she rushes them into making a decision. Just like she did to Areal.

  • @artistwithouttalent lol, there was a small picture of Mickey Mouse in the contract too! :P

  • scared the shit out of me lil bro when he was lil awwww XD

  • 5:22 BUENO...

  • xD they realy shouldnt do a close up of her shimmy-ing xD *shiver runs down spine*

  • Haahahah,

"i admit that in the past i've been nasty ;D"

  • Mrs. Jellyfish: Have a good day at work dear.

    Mr. Jellyfish: Okay dear.

[Jellyfish hears Ursula singing and swims into her home.]

Mr. Jellyfish: Oh look a musical!

    [Ursula grabs Mr. Jellyfish]

    Mr. Jellyfish: Oh snap! WTF!!!

  • @ParkerUnlimited omg i lol'd hard at that

  • 3:57 Problem Ariel?

    Also....Ariel is sexy.

    That is all.

  • pat carrol - amazing

  • A BODY LANGUAGE!!! XD

  • 4:29 EPIC WIN!!!

  • She reminds me of my aunt, minus the tentacles. I think she reminds everyone of that "crazy aunt"

  • @lakobause That is weird because I also have an aunt that looks like Ursula minus the tentacles and has the same attitude. You're right, many people have that aunt.

  • @coolio104 I don't have an aunt that looks like that, but my grandmother looks exactly like her. Hair, necklace, weight....everything.

  • She reminds me of my aunt, minus the octopus tentacles.

  • @lakobause Ursula reminds me of my mother.

  • @lu4y4pants which part????? the BAWW DEE language????????

  • if ursula has such awesome magic, then why the hell'd she bother to wait for ariel to come to her? she coodve just literally taken the crown from the king and turned everyone into those weeds....

  • omg, i thought she sed f*cking wen she sed flocking XD

  • Ursula's easily my favourite villain. She has character.

  • now I really really really want to watch this :(

  • i wish ursula is real...;(

  • lol.... "there's something about those minor chords that makes me wanna trust her."

    Stupid ariel.

  • 1:51 AGGGHHHHH!!!!!!

  • 4:41 Just as planned >:)

  • Best drag queen Disney ever made XD

  • EEEEEEEVVVVIIIIILLLLL!!!!!! Love it!!! I like Ariels voice though

  • EEEEEEEVVVVIIIIILLLLL!!!!!! Love it!!!

  • I met someone who sounds/looks like Ursula. Chronic smoker. She was ****ing terrifying.

  • great song.. only thing i think its missing is a high note to go out on a bang on that last "soul"

  • arial is a dumb-ass it looks so clear that she's still evil and is planing somthing

  • ursula is a true evil villian unlike these new disney villians.

  • I miss the old Disney movies. Like this one, i have them all on VHS including:

    Little Mermaid

    Mary Poppins

    Beauty And The Best

    Alice In Wonderland.

    Pinocchio

    Peter pan (1&2)

and i lot more. Sure there's some mistakes Disney made in the past (*cough* Songs Of The South*cough*) but still they had a lot of great movies.

  • @knucklesXrouge2256 you should see some of the origonal storys there based on go to cracked dot com

7 Classic Disney Movies Based On R-Rated Stories 7-classic-disney-movies-based-r-rated-stories just google it some are realy fucked up

  • The voice matches the look so well it hurts. You'd think Ursula was smoking cigs underwater.

  • Must have been a bitch to animate those tentacles, but damn if it wasn't worth it. Suits the character so well.

  • Her face when she says "That's what I do!" is so awesomely evil!

  • Ursela rules!!

  • 1:29 did she say "fucking"????

  • @TheCrippledCrow Nope, she said flocking.

  • dude, seriously, i want to have sex with ursala.

  • "Max Laryngitis" hehehehe.

I looove the part when she steals her voice. So cool! And sad.

    AND SHE LICKS HER TEETH!

  • FINALLY FOR THE LOVE OF GOD THE ORIGINAL VERSION! NOT THE JONAS BROTHERS!

I really wanted to hear this song at the moment. Love it. Really pissed it took me about 10 tries to NOT get the Jonas Brothers version

  • YEEEEAH Shake it Ursula! Show those anorexic Disney princesses what sexy means :P

  • what is her name

  • @kingtrent88 Who?

  • She reminds me of my ex step mom...

  • why is it that y'all ruin my childhood memories with rants about cultural thisanthat? it's just a movie, y'all really should relax.

  • BO-DY LANGUAGE! And Princess Tiana got the frog In the princess and the frog, what does that say Haloof?

  • i have a question.....how do mermaids and mermen have children if they have fins????

  • @madcat2316 good question and how do they go to the bathroom

  • @megahappypinkskitty weird o.o

  • @madcat2316 Same way dolphins do, probably.

  • Ever notice how disney villains have great teeth. Evil must have good dental.

  • in the wise words of mike wasowski "scary monsters don't have plaque!"

  • Anyone else think Ursula is a drag queen? I'm not sure if it was her or Edna Mode from The Incredibles that was actually based off one.

  • It's Ursula. Edna was based off an actual fashion designer from the '60s.

  • make a video called villain songs friends on the other side

  • I remember this song.

    It is good.

  • This song is amazing.

As cruel as she is, I do like Ursula quite a lot. Though I was terrified of her when I was much younger.

  • This is a great movie ... I always enjoyed the sheer musicality that went into making the Disney musicals, and this is no exception. They make very evil villains, and although I wouldn't put Ursula up the top (I'd reserve that spot for Frollo from Hunchback) she certainly does her job well.

  • Ursula now i swear i read somewhere she is actually Ariel's Aunt

    a fantastic villian

  • "And don't underestimate the importance of BODY LANGUAGE." *swings hips* lol That part always makes me giggle.

As for the message that "she who holds her tongue who gets a man", that is URSULA saying that. The kids really aren't supposed to root for the villain, or listen to their messages. Besides, she's just saying that to convince Ariel to give up her voice.

  • Does Ursula even technically have hips? She's octopus from the breast down.

  • Um...lol good point. XD You don't run into half-octopus ladies very often. Makes me wonder what exactly she IS swinging there...

  • lol

  • @Tikatyke

    LMAO! No not really! haha

  • scroll down and read my other post. thx.

  • Honestly, I think it all depends on how you take it. I say she's a villain telling lies to get Ariel to give up her voice. I grew up with this movie and I'm perfectly fine. I don't need a man to survive, and really I didn't get that message as a child. Also, while Ariel did want her man, she had also dreamed of being human and seeing the world above the surface. So I think she may have had a little more motivation than just getting Eric. That's all just my opinion though...

  • Ursula is...um...

An aging, early twentieth century brothel madam?

  • You'll have your looks, your pretty face. And don't underestimate the importance of body language, ha! The men up there don't like a lot of blabber They think a girl who gossips is a bore! Yet on land it's much prefered for ladies not to say a word And after all dear, what is idle babble for? Come on, they're not all that impressed with conversation True gentlemen avoid it when they can But they dote and swoon and fawn On a lady who's withdrawn It's she who holds her tongue who get's a man
  • is this really the message people want to hear?

  • this is what makes Ursula a villain ;)

  • yes but her song is purporting to be a "truth" about male/female dynamics and that if the mermaid follows this and is successful (which she is) that it is true and will work. the villainous part is TAKING THE VOICE, the unfortunate part is that it works (even ursula though it wouldn't, so we are worse than even she thought).

  • the lesson that the "most important thing for a woman" is to "have a man" and to "hold her tongue and use body language" to get him is kinda sad and outrageous. these two things have nothing to do with villainy other than the message it gives young girls.

now if the mermaid set out to do it without a voice but the guy wouldn't go for it, then it would disprove the song lyrics and give us all a little dignity....so it has nothing to do with ursula, it has to do with us.

  • just because ursula is so fun as a character and the mermaid seems like a nice girl doesn't mean the lyrics (printed above) are a good, healthy message, i mean Disney IS fallible !

the writers Ashman (died of aids at 40) and Menken are men. they could certainly lose the woman's perspective. I love ursula as a drag queen but this also adds to the point that the woman's perspective on what is a healthy approach to "how to get a man" is lost.

  • The entire song is about an old witch taking advantage of a young naive girl. Now, I love a good conspiracy theory, Disney has definitely done shameful things in its musicals (Song of the South), but the purpose of every lyric in this song is to have Ursula convince Ariel that all she needs to do is to conform to these male-female stereotypes to get her prince. The gain is 2fold for the villain, the degradation of the object of her jealousy and the possession of a beautiful voice.

  • i do see what you are saying.

i just also believe that to take the voice is villainous- yes, but the fact that (before ursula intervenes) it would WORK for ariel voice-less means something about our society perpetuated by the film.

the little mermaid was written by a man pining for a man in 1837. Ursulas lyrics were written by a gay man. the result is 2 gay men's POV drawn out for little girls. A homoerotic hold-your-tongue make your move, and see what happens... disney-fied for kids. weird

  • Are you saying that Disney is sending subliminal messages to children to try to turn them gay? also, I'd be really interested in hearing your views on the song Hellfire from Hunchback.

  • no i do not think you can turn anything, i think you can be born feeling like you are one, the other, or both. i also think people who are open can choose to have a more open-mind about who they might love

    HOWEVER, i think

  • stories and songs crafted by men who are interested in men have very little insight into women's voices. i have nothing against gay men, and nothing against them dominating the entertainment industry. i just think that this story and song are logical for them and not women.

ps i looked at hunchback hellfire and you knew before i looked at it that i wasn't going to be a fan, i am not.

  • @RebbieFan hey, for it's day, Song of the South was pretty fair

  • @RebbieFan Do not forget the power grab against King Triton. Gaining that kind of power is certainly worth making a few politically incorrect remarks.

  • Ursula is kicks ass, and it's funny how she represents a drag queen. Plus it's also funny to notice how dirty disney is. Still great movies lol. :)

  • 3:03 she looks like Zsa Zsa Gabor

    or not?

  • the part at 2:55-3:00 is so true

life is full of tough choices

  • i miss these kind of Disney-movies

the disneys today like HSM:s, Hannah Montanas etc. doesn't have the action and villains like these ones

  • 3:29 ZIP *PUH*

    Ursula's such an awesome villain.

  • "but you'll have your man" dang

"and don't forget the importance of body language" seriously disney is a six year old supposed to get this stuff? You see much more in disney once you get older. I like it, it makes it worth watching again and again

  • @illshootforthemoon thats why adolts love disney kids think it cool at same time parents understand why this character does this

  • @illshootforthemoon Adults watch this with their kids. They have to get something out of it too if forced to sit through it. Better it's something that children wouldn't even catch at that age. :)

  • Ursula sorta looks like my grandma.....

  • Don't tell her that. I hear Ursula's design was based off a drag queen. o.o

  • Your grandma is therefore awesome.

  • u mean ur gramdma has eight black slimy tenchiles and lives underwater in a giant shell thing ur gran must be awesome i bet ur get good prez of her for bdays and chrismas

  • Ursula doesn't seem to be asking for a price, it seems more like one of those challenges you get on double dare. "You have three days to win the heart of the prince using your new legs, and if you can make him fall in love you then the legs are yours to keep. BUT! if you faaaaail... you lose the legs and i keep your soul. but! you can use your singing crab and talking fish to help you out, ok. on your mark..... get set.... go!!!" then the double dare theme starts

  • ursula kinda looks like my Godmother

  • I love ursula, though not when i play KH1... then she's a pain...

    I love this song.

  • I made my mom think i needed therapy from going around the house singing this when i was little and quoting Cruella and Jafar, their more evil lines

  • which lines?

  • like with Cruella the line about kill them shoot them bash them on the head, got any chlorophorm and from the live action the monologue at the end, from Jafar his song, and when hes turning into the snake and genie. :)

  • Dude you just brought back SO much nostalgia! Ursula rules! XD

  • The Little Mermaid is one of my favorite Disney movies. Ursula was a villian who I liked BETTER THAN THE MAIN CHARACTER. Is that even.... okay? I don't know, it's just that, she has so much more presence and personality than Ariel. Take this song, for example. Ariel's demure nature is completely overshadowed by the robustly vivacious Ursula, with little to no presence in the song, if only to serve the plot. Is that valid at all...?

  • Sure it's valid! my beef is that girls are supposed to find a role model in ariel. "she who holds her tongue who gets a man"?? WTF?? what is wrong w/ people??

  • It was a different time.

  • I was raising my ex's kids when this came out. they were 6 and 8. the younger one (a girl) couldn't believe the story. we were all a bit shocked by the woman with no voice thing when we saw it. it wasn't that different a time unless you are like 9 yrs old now in 2009 and cant remember the 90's which explains why you'd think it was THAT different. we're not talking 1950 here. the "it was a different time" excuse is getting old, it's just disney crap and marketing and the cute lobster.

  • Well, I was 2 when it came out and I havn't seen the movie in a long, long, long, time.

  • @hansendesigns

    True that.

  • Don't be stupid! She is being influenced by a villain, besides she actually gets the guy when she CAN speak. He loves her voice.

  • hansendesigns, I sincerely doubt that that was the message Disney was trying to get across to us. The fact is, Ursula is a villain, and she was using those lies in order to convince Ariel to give up her voice. Key word: LIES.

You can't take a villain's words seriously, the whole point is that you distrust them.

  • I wish it were lies! ursula believes they are lies, but then it works out and it seems men and women are what the song says.

  • so i guess gay male disney song lyricists (Ashman) are infallible when creating female role models and their situations!

they are the authority on male/female relations- all hail disney, don't let there be descent especially if it's catchy, looks amazing and is fun sounding.

i mean i like ursula, I like Ashman the lyricist, i just think the body language/hold her tongue storyline is a mistake and a bad message.

  • @hansendesigns - It's a bad message coming from an evil character. Um, duh. I don't think any rational kid would take URSULA's advice.

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • @HaloofCurls except ariel DOES take her advice and it all comes out well, what does that say?

  • @hansendesigns - There are a lot of other expectations for little girls that Disney sets up - girls should be THIN, girls need a MAN to be happy, and so on and so forth, not to mention that women of color are next to nonexistant. I think Ursula's advice to Ariel is minor compared to other things that are wrong with this movie.

  • as a kid, i used to be freaked out by Ursula but now she is just freaky! awesome job

  • What's interesting is that there are so many flavors of villains. And Villain Songs brings them into sharp relief. Compare this to Be Prepared and Hellfire and you'll see what I mean. Motivation and modus opperendi are the key. Ursula is a power hungry manipulator, while Scar is a jealous ambitious schemer, and Frollo is a self righteous tyrant.

  • i work with a black chick named ursala and she act just like this ursala its rediculously funny

  • Ursula is definitely not the generic cartoon villain, at least she makes a small attempt at concealing her motives

"It's not pure evil til it's Disney evil! :D "

:O Objection! Johan Liebert from Monster surpasses any Disney villain in evil-ness. His shear presence makes people die, kill and commit suicide. (all three are proven in the series)

  • Dude/Dudette I don't mean for you to take that to heart XD

But yeh the guy from monster is EVIL! >3

  • You try singing the words..it's a tough song to sing!

    lol

  • me sing? lol everyone would start bleeding from the ears XDDDD

The songs for a singer with a deep voice that can hit the low notes so yeh it would be pretty hard to sing for a girl.

  • Hehe, I love this song. :3
