I just played these. These are amazingly beautiful works of a significant minor master. I knew a 20-year Tower Classical employee who considered the solo violoncello sonata one of the great Twentieth Century chamber works ; I consider it the third greatest work in the solo violoncello literature after the “ Trilogia ” of Count Giacinto Scelsi and then “ Time and Motion Study III ” of Brian Ferneyhough.
