The point remains--pros have auditioned for BGT & made it to the semifinals & finals before Julian. BGT has said the competition is open to pros as well as amateurs. Obviously, they don't want well-known acts. (Not everyone who applies gets to audition.) Few pros would audition: if they make the semis, they have to agree to NOT perform in public before the semifinals--almost 2 months. (Julian said that in an interview.) That's hard for a pro who makes a living performing.

They said that Simon was "in a particularly foul mood," perhaps because the previous auditions were so bad. (They go through many eachg day.) This was apparently right after a break.

Once he had heard Julian play, Simon fairly gushed with praise. It was one of the most purely positive comments I've heard Simon make--and he continued in the same way in the semifinal and final.

It was the most moving 1:21 I've experienced.

The U.S has a similar feel good story, Donald Braswell came in 4th on AGT last year. On his first audition he came out in a crumpled business suit and the crowd was mocking him like they did Susan and America was worse, they started booing him, but instead of running off the stage, he kept singing and his voice is a God given gift that turned the crowd around. No evidence at all so let's give him the benefit and say he is more professional than any pros I have heard in a long time.

Did a quick search as well, he's obviously been around...but with playing for that long with THAT talent I'm not suprised.

There are a lot of talented musicians out there that are doing OK but are looking for a chance to really make it big and get into the main stream (which he obviously hasn't till now).

Re-brand and try a new angle, lot's of people do it - and it works. Even megastars do it!!

Being on BGT brought him to my attention...so it's TOTALLY fine by me :-D

This fellow is being called a "professional" and possibly should not be on BGT...NOT TRUE...He has been playing all his life including teaching children & small paying gigs...The same can be said for MOST of the contestants...any paying gig they can get helps pay the bills

Susan sang in a local hotel for years..The many dance groups have been paid to perform...

Joolz Gianni/James Smith has great talent and certainly deserves a place in this contest.

Anyone who says this is a faked performance doesn't know fuckall about music. The only thing you hear at the end is the natural reverb which comes from an electric sax, and the background orchestration which was on a CD and perfectly allowable as accompaniment.

Well, he is not a established act. His is hardly known and most people on these types of shows have tried to make it and just didn't have a break. Most of the top 12 of the last American Idol had recorded CDs. So the guy has done shows? There is footage of Susan Boyle singing in clubs, does that mean she should be disqualified? Of course no. She never had a break so far and neither did he.
