  • I wonder what Mary Wells and Martha Reeves tought about this cover by Ms. Ronstadt; Perhaps we'll never know. I like it.

  • sexy babe .

  • who had the idea "let phil collins do this song and fail badly with it"?

  • jeez... she's so sexy just standing and singing :)

  • I laugh at the people who slam "the guitarist's antics" without even knowing who they are talking about. Folks, for your edification, Danny Kortchmar has probably played on more hit LPs with "The Section" than any of you are ever likely to know. Linda and he, and all the rest go back a long time. Believe me, she's not having a problem with what anyone is doing on that stage so long as the music sounds right.

  • Anyone else forget their name while looking at her?

  • Forget my name? Hell, I forgot what decade I was in, you know, the decade of Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Rihanna, YAWN!!, whose drivel you couldn't do your shopping to never mind, dance to, and felt like I was transported back in time to an era when music made you lose your inhibitions and dance away with wild abandon. Our parents had it tough in most ways intheir generation, but they more than got a trade off with songs like this, interpreted with such panache by Linda Ronstadt. Great Stuff!

  • She is totally awesome.

  • How could she sing it better? She couldn't...nobody could.

And the band is Class A+, too.

    Wowza!

  • AS Expected!

    Way to go Ronstradt!

  • Alas, she suffered the curse of the Divas - grew huevos too big to need any man in her life. La Torra.

  • The best !

  • thanks for uploading linda ronstadt songs..never been a better singer

  • She pretty much snag it the same way Martha Reeves sang it in the 1963 original. They just used a guitar solo instead of sax which made it sound more up to date at the time

  • A Holland–Dozier–Holland hit.

  • The Band? Do you mean Robbie Robertson and Cleavon Little? I don't think so hon...

  • DON'T READ THIS CAUSE IS ACTUALLY WORKS. YOU WILL GET KISSED ON THE NEAREST POSSIBLE FRIDAY BY THE LOVE OF YOUR IFE, TOMORROW WILL BE THE BEST DAY OF YOUR LIFE HOWEVER IF YOU DON'T POST THIS COMMENT TO AT LEAST THREE VIDESO YOU WILL DIE WITHIN TWO DAYS. NOW YOU STARTED READING THIS DON'T STOP. THIS IS SO SCARY. PUT THIS ON AT LEAST FIVE VIDEOS IN 143 MINUTES WHEN YOU'RE DONE PRESS F6 AND YOUR LOVERS NAME WILL APPEAR IN BIG LETTERS. THIS IS SO SCARY CAUSE IT ACTUALLY WOR

  • Saw this when it was first broadcast on HBO in 1980, and I never get tired of watching it. The power in Linda's voice at 1:27 is amazing! This version of "Heat Wave" is superior to the '77 Atlanta video - the tempo is too slow in that one, although Linda looked hotter.

  • YEA YEA YEA YEA, YEA YEA OOOOOOO HEAT WAVE. WHAT A HOTTIE SHE WAS BACK IN THE DAY!!

  • When was this????? gotta be the Bill Payne from Little Feat, right.

  • You think she's good. Take a look at Martha and the Vandella's doing this song in the mid 1960's. Martha looks like she is really enjoying the song, Linda is too! Great times

  • mad love rulred

  • you got that right 15cash

  • Linda Ronstadt should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!!!

  • Stunningly great performance by the divine Ms. Ronstadt. But the guitarist should have been beaten with large sticks. No one paid money to see him. His antics were distracting--and he didn't have a fraction of Ms. Ronstadt's talent.

  • its funny she's better live then most singers today are in the studio

  • Reminds me of what a cutie she was back then.

  • @Bosingr Or cutey.

  • Comment removed

  • i'll never know why but this song always puts me in a great mood. doesnt matter if its linda singing or paul weller. something very magical about it.

  • I liked this ! It was Linda Ronstadt, late 70s and she belts it out and the band delivers it.. Martha & Vandellas were rocking for 1963 and it kicked then too. I think I recognized Billy Payne on keyboards and Danny Kortchmar on Guitar, Drummer looks familiar?!?Anybody say who the others are?!?

  • Yeah Yeah!

  • shit, LR is such a tease and so good. She never gets out of tune during live performances unlike today's young copy cats.

  • one sexy hot lil Bruntette !! with a big Voice!

  • FIrst class Linda Ronstadt, the voice of a generation, no one has come close. She is also a Lovely and beautiful, Person!!

  • Love those eighties socks and shorts at 1:35

  • she surely was beautiful

  • Great performance by Linda. . .but was this filmed with the monkey-cam?

  • How wonderful! Full of energy. Enjoyment. So soulful. When Linda Ronstadt sang this, I was 14 years old but I felt the excitement. I miss those days so much.

  • She sounds so much like the original. :P

  • i didn't know linda ronstadt could sing like that

    very nice remake !!!

  • This version is better than the original. Danny Kortchmar rocks on the guitar, and of course Linda (aie yie yie...) is always right on target, looking good and singing better.

  • Amazing to see her perform a soul song.

best interpeter of classic songs in the world.

get into her own stuff as well. and remember, she was the one who recommended Eagles to , well, make their own group.

  • @Incudius this is real music, not what we are stuck with today....

  • 1963 hit single penned by the Holland–Dozier–Holland.

  • is that the hulk

  • Not bad but unfirtunately Linda Ronstadt is not a Martha Reeves.

  • Rock and Roll Hall of Fame shame: No Linda Ronstadt. John Roberts....

  • We are in a Heatwave...bring it on Linda!!!

  • I was just pointing it out.She always will have a great voice.

  • Jee... How sexy could be a woman just... standing !? Elle est vraiment délicieuse

  • wow. great cover. martha reeves'd be proud.

  • Miss you, Kenny....

  • @rickiis Rest in Peace, Kenny...

  • That chick is hot as hell!!!

  • Comment removed

  • she did not bother to hit the signature high note at the end.....anyone notice??

  • @oLdSkOoLkisS WHO CARES?

  • agreed...but is that a pantsuit?!

  • Not everybody can sing this good live. Linda has that magic voice that many singers lack today. Outstanding performance! A big thumbs up for this one. Thanks for posting!

  • A living ledgend and the most gorgeous woman god ever made.

Check out the video by Nelson Riddle,,,,,What's New,,,,,. She is the most stunningly perfect woman ever but more important ,,she has a voice that angels fight over.

Linda is going to be 64 years young July 15th this year and still number one to me.!!

  • Given Martha Reeves' brilliant original, it takes some brass to come out on stage and sing this American classic like you own it. But let's give Linda Ronstadt credit: this performance is both sensational and soulful.

  • Best woman singer of ALL time bar none! Damn good looking too.

  • She is fantastic.

  • I thought that was great. She can sure belt out a tune. It's weird seeing someone sing without having to dance and get stupid like they do today. She did it wayyy cooler then and still got the crowd jumping.

  • @redgarnet6 You nailed it there. It's because her voice was rocking good. You could not help but to move to the music

  • @dsinoway what grade are you in?

  • @dsinoway Do I detect jealousy?

  • @bklynAtrain for sure shes a jealous bitch!!!!

  • I love Linda but her Heat Wave can't hold a candle to the orginal by Martha and the Vandellas which probably is the greatest hit record of the 1960s. Dusty Springfield's version is better too. Still, I love Linda!

  • @QuentinQuatermass I'm 67.... and love M &VD's, my favorite is Dancing in the Street. Linda's version is completely different, as the Motown sound is unique unto itself, the "Detroit Sound." I love Dusty, but actually love her ballads more, just can't relate to her doing this one.

  • I'm pretty sure this is from her "Tour 1980" performance which was broadcast live on HBO. Linda is the best, and she was at the top of her game for this show.

  • I love, love LOVE Linda Ronstadt. I really don't think she gets her due when it comes to the great women of rock and roll. I just wish she hadn't done so many cover songs in her career. I just think she was SO versatile...from country to rock, that most record labels didn't know what to do with her. She's absolutely incredible.

  • This is one of my favourite songs and she does a hell of a job even though she cant reach it... it manages to get its own style and energy! love it

  • talented girl:D

  • Just can't get enough of her, especially early Ronstadt.

  • Love it! Linda Ronstadt is simply adorable! Thanks so much for posting!

  • Linda is probably one of the most gifted female Pop singers of all time. She could sing the Yellow Pages and make it sound good.

  • crap cover.......

  • Whatever!!!

  • Whatever!!!Whatever!!!

  • it's totally different...

  • well you're right, i have the cd right here and it says 1980, oops!

  • class

  • linda rondstadt is simply the most gifted interpreter of songs to ever live

  • @ratbsf Yes, and she can sing fully covert, doesn't need to perform half naked or with her breasts out so people look at her. She is powerfull, sexy, elegant and talented. I love it.

  • @ratbsf

She definitely is ! But the thing that annoys me is the egomaniac guitar player trying to be the centre of attention.

  • i like original best

  • @iwilsing4u who do you consider to be the original?

  • martha & the Vendella's

  • @iwilsing4u thanks I do appreciate it, this song has been done so many times by so many people...I do like martha version also it was great.

  • I love mp4ify for converting utube videos as mp3 or mp4 - its easy..

  • Way too fast..

  • I quite agree - musical taste is subjective - but objectively how can you argue with musical perfection. That straight, PURE, powerful voice - perfect phrasing - transformed this song from Motown to rock, a classic. LOVE IT, go Linda!

  • Sorry Linda, but the Jam's rendition of Heatwave blows you out of the water.

  • sorry but her version is awesome...your and my post signifies that music is subjective

  • @efrem1 who?

  • The Jam, a mod punk group from England that did such works as Going underground, Eton Rifles and Beat Surrender.

  • Yeah, ya, yeah, ya.

  • the ULTIMATE 70's rock chick!

  • Que Linda!

  • What a fabulous song - hard to find a version out there that isn't great. These guys (also) nail it.

  • I love it!

  • what a voice

  • Reminds me of Sister Act 1! I have always loved this song... Go Linda

  • The best vocalist ever.......Linda KICKS ASS.....

  • i love this song

  • Today's female vocalist must hate to see videos like this; reminds them of how much they blow.

  • WHoa just because they can't reach perfection doesn't mean that can't do a good job.

  • no just how great they wany to be

  • this is Linda Ronstadt's HBO Special from 1979.

i remember watching it when it first aired.

  • @letloverule77 Actually it was 1980 -- the year the "Mad Love" album came out.

  • I used to listen to this song non-stop. I loved it

  • i listened to this again.. i want to move back to el paso texas... hey el paso..

  • i didn't know she was hispanic.. nonetheless, i love this song ., especially the lead guitar... im gonna learn that..

    lottsa love thanx

  • Diggin' that red jumpsuit....

  • LINDA YUMMYSTAT!

  • I like Martha Reeves version, too, but Linda Ronstadt's is better.

  • Her version is great but My favorite one is the original by Martha Reeves & The Vandellas. Martha Reeves had this painful sound in her voice that you felt when she was yearning. Linda's version is a delight.

  • YES!- she sure can sing anything--- and over the years- has...

  • Even though this one of her biggest hits, she absolutely HATED this song! She hated singing it & I beleive she just won't sing it in public anymore. One of my favorite LR songs. The lady can SING anything!!!

  • I think she could sing a phonbook or a menu and make it sound wonderull!

  • she's the best of the 70's, 80's ,90's....not sure about the new millenium..but what a great singer, songstress, hot girl and more !!

  • she can sing, and yes she is pretty but she has no personality....im sorry just my opinion dont bite off my heads fans

  • I will admit that she appears at times to not be too terribly excited about some of the songs. Maybe it is the 14000th time she has sung it? lol- getting tired of it? lol I guess she is human and can have an off-day like all of us... but all in all- I find her to have a good stage personality and an excellant voice. She was also very pleasing to the eyes- - an added bonus for us men- wink She will always remain one of my favorites and have a special place in my heart.

  • yes this was red hot stuff...cranked the radio, especially in the car for this one..

..and linda, well, that legendary come hither roller skating album shot with the leggings (wasnt it?)

well,,, a young boy's heart sent a racin' thats for sure.

  • After all these years to hear her still makes my heart race.WOW

  • Best female vocalist...nope. That honor goes to the one and only Miss Connie Francis...Linda is a definitely a strong #2.

  • yes arguably true

  • What year? 1975. The same year Johnny Rivers put out THE best version of Help Me Ronda originally written by Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys...Sorry Beack Boys.

  • Nobody does renditions like Linda Ronstadt and Johnny Rivers......nobody!!!!!

She simply belts them out with grit!

  • hey can somebody tell me what year was that song release ?

Great Song by the way ;)

  • The queen of R&R, i was in love with her back in the 70's. best female vocalist ever...

  • luv this version nice n rough

  • im in love..cute cute cute..

  • Ive seen a great filmclip of her performing this in daytime outdoor concert,,,it was awesome, I cant find it on youtube which surprises me, is anyone familiar with it?

  • One of my favorite Ronstadt hits. Always loved her voice. Especially strong belting vocal on this song.

  • Pat Benatar copied this New Wave look.

  • Great video!, 1980, ¨Mad love¨ year, and her Urban look, the end of a golden era. Sigh..

  • Effortless!

  • man!

is that a strong voice or what

she nailed it perfect, didn't crack anywhere

    thats why she's a legend !

  • @katdaddy10 I've always loved her .... don't get me wrong but she hit clunkers at .57-59 @ the words "my heart". Listen closely she goes flat.

  • @andcheeky2 whatever

  • @andcheeky2 It's "live"!! plus she doesn't lip sych, oh you heard a flat note in that amazing rendition? ok get over it!

  • @simba1622 Do people on here ever read things fully? I never said I didn't like her ... I always loved her! Go re-read my first comment. And the ONLY reason I said she hit the clunker was because so many keep saying how she has perfect pitch, she's spot on and never misses a note. Well she does and did. That's all ... no need to get your knickers in a bunch.

  • hoan'i raby mpampianatra anglisy

  • Song from 1975 - this performance 1980.

  • Thanks heaps for sharing this great song from the beautiful Linda. What year was this made?

  • 1975 from album Prisoner in Disguise
