When I first heard I'd have to study this for the leaving cert I was gonna kill myself, but after hearing all those canons and rushed scales I love classical music :D
@mereobservation aside from concealing his homosexuality by being married to a woman, he's definitely got that Romantic period swag goin on. #19th century freshness
Thank you for Posting. I try not to judge composers on their sound of pretty or dark tones, yet I almost thought Tchaikovsky was a pretty boy composer. Hell what do I konw. I'm just an American consumer right?
@daSaboriGuitars Well, the US are still a pretty cultured country (it differs from place to place and person to person I guess), although Reagan's quest to kill the American soul has gone a long way...
@watutman Yes I suppose that comment was a bit out of place for this apolitical video. I was referring to the erosion of the American welfare state that began under his watch (although the people behind the screens were probably calling the shots).
Absolutely fantastic. The romantic era is one of my favorites. I love how it took all that made the classic period beautiful and elegant and just built on that to bring things never before found in music.
this is amazing live! I saw it in Manchester this year, the textures and orchestration are amazing

Anyone else think Tchaikovsky was kind of hot (aside from being so talented!)?

@mereobservation I concur, for what it's worth. Handsome man in his day. And now fled is his beauty and the fruits of his genius remain.

@henripche Reagan's quest to kill the American soul? That's the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard!

this song really makes me miss playing in an orchestra. [I'm a bassoon player]
Sitting right in the thick of it, listening to the clairinets between around 1:00 to 2:00 was so splendid.
