  • Who remembers going to the skating rinks and jamming to this joint? This was a hit in the early days of Hip Hop.

  • This was the original "SMURF SONG" I know that spawned a dance called,"THE SMURF". Bakersfield, California - I bought the 45' after hearing it on the radio and my neice taught me the dance. Summer's end, at the Kern County Fair, there was a DJ spinning and he played it. My neice was shy, but I got out there by myself. There was a line of couples facing each other doing The Smurf and I was happy just dancing, next to them. I was the only Hispanic (european skin) guy. It was my favorite song!

  • this song gets me so pumped.

  • woof woof...ha the golden age of music..love it!

  • A classic slide song for us at every Johnson family get together

We had been practicing for weeks and at the last minute they changed the music up for an unknown reason...I think some parents objected to the songs lyrics...1984... go figure

  • @KingRam33 Mate, I'm 43, very nearly 44 and I can only reiterate your sentiments. I will be IN LOVE with this tune till the day I die. It was seminal then and is seminal now. It contains a RARE magic. I was there with the whole ELECTRO thing and thanks to You Tube can hear tunes I thought I'd NEVER hear again. This track stood head and shoulders over some of the best in my view.

  • When the melody coupled with the groove kicks in at 0:23 I feel like I can fly! Won my 8th grade pop lockin' school dance contest to jam on it. Hopefully after our country implodes us people can get back to what really mattered in life.

  • They came out talking cold smack to Grandmaster Flash & the Sugar Hill Gang back in the day, but by the time that Grandmaster Flash answerered, it was too late. Sugar Hill never answered because they could'nt. 4Real. A new era had already begun. We played the HELL out of this. DJ's wanted stuff that made people dance no matter if they wanted to or not. • I have all old school songs in my lowrider pick-up and this one is the best to listen to when your cruise'n...

  • € 15? It didn't exist in 1983 ._.

    Fail.

  • I remember summer before 8th grade living in Fresno back in '84. I was pretty good at poppin', everybody else in The Dragons--the ones I ran with--were really good at breakin. This song takes me back to "battle night" at Dickie Park, few blocks from home. It was a good one, fit for the movies! There were easily 50 knuckleheads there, but it was all good. I was the youngest, and when this song came on, I came out hittin' hard. I rocked that night. Made a strong impression on everybody, and myself

  • @HomelessOnline

Thats the stuff right there ,o)

  • yay for JohhhnnyWalker23....the Ghost Who Rocks

  • This is the Jam, I blast this as well as other old school in my sweet 2008 Honda Accord Coupe, and people always look. The young kids TRY to out blast me, but it doesn't work. The older people look, then realise what it is, and smile as they start bobbin their heads. It's a drug you can't resist, but remember, "Don't do white lines," stick to the audio! Jam on my fellow old schoolers!

  • Anyone who doesn't like this GROUP (not just the song/mix) needs to go back in the livingroom, play with your Elmo doll, and eat your milk and cookies...while GROWN folks listen to some of the last era of quality music made!

  • we be clubb'in ice cube

  • This shit goes hard

  • Freakin' awesome jam...

  • I still have this cassette and like to bump this and others on the suround sound

  • Do You All Remember, Put on Your Best Gear, Get Your Drinks On, Get Your Fun

On..PartyTime--No Shoot Outs--Tell me Where Did It All Go Wrong.

  • @BlackPride1000 those were the days, everybody enjoyed and had a great time. I was in Germany during this era and it was a blast. today its all about hating , shooting , not a good thing.

  • @ricosniper I was in Mainz Germany one of the best times of my life we kicked it I really miss them days., and these songs.

  • @BlackPride1000

I remember the good days too, as to where it went wrong, I have theory. Video games

  • @caddop22 ...You're blaming the decline of society on video games? Seriously?

  • @Entropy161 No more or less the decline of parent involvement, adults knew what I was doing even before I thought about it doing it.

  • @louishenna ...I'm assuming you're caddop22.

Whether you are or not, blaming Hip-Hop for the deliberate and gradual decline of society is as short-sighted, deluded, and outright stupid as cop-outs go...

  • @caddop22 add cell phones and the internet...not only do kids nowadays never want to go play outside..in alot of areas they just can't safely ..

  • @clumsy79rsl

Agreed on that, I am a very protective parent. I remember when my curfew was the street light coming on.

  • @BlackPride1000 when the illuminati started into music and the mind control. but alot of us brothers are waking up bro. keep up the good work

  • @BlackPride1000

I can't tell you, I just know that I see so many posts on here about kids wishing that they lived in the 80's. They say that it had to be a great time, well it was. We had Miami Vice (never missed that) and good music. But time goes on. Peace

  • @BlackPride1000 Oh my gosh I'd like to know 2. I miss these days so so so so much.

  • @ezekialjackson1 Me too! From 83 to 93 was one long party!

  • didnt one of the rappers with no limit have a rap to this cut in da late 90s?

  • @eleesmith yeah Mia X did the party dont stop to this track. with Foxy Brown and Master P

  • I also remember roller skating to this song all the time when I was younger.

  • I need some damn roller skates!!! Not the inline punk ass skates....those old skool kind with 4 pink wheels with the big old rubber stopper on the front....the kind you needed to have 4 pairs of socks to wear, so you wouldnt get blisters, after hours of skating!

  • OMG!!! I haven't heard this joint on the radio since the summer of 1983. I was only 13 years old at the time this came out. Every b-boy/b-girl and popper did their thing to this joint.

  • Got tons of original old school joints from the early 80's for sale, hit me if interested.I also have this for sale.
