Nearly all British, the aircraft at 0:15 is the French interceptor the 'Super Etendard'. Although Argentina probably lost a few at the hands of British Sea Harriers during the Falklands War,
@tonightwefly Thank you. I have a similar video up on my site with some of the same pictures you have on your video. @youtube.com/watch?v=EDI66cdURbc.
@tunkunrunk Yes they would -the 707 was a bigger faster more fuel efficient plane that sold all around the world and had most of its early costs paid for by US Govt to develop it as the KC 135 tanker aircraft-I think the Comet looked beautiful but it didnt sell well because it could not match the performance of the B 707 and DC 8
@tim60s321 The Comet 5 was the solution to this problem but it didn't get enough funding from the government, as was the case with nearly all British aircraft of this time
@tim60s321 The Vickers VC-7 was also being planned to take on the 707 and the DC 8. Both Boeing and McDonnell Douglas had made improvements to their aircraft that still wouldn't have been as good as the proposed capabilities of the VC-7.
@aspiringdrummer17 I did a little research on the VC7 and it seems it never made it off the drawing board because BOAC required it to easily fly the Atlantic and it became apparent that it would not be able to with its planned engines because it would come in at 18000 lbs overweight. Yet another brave intention that was not given adequate backing and lacked a sound grasp of commercial realities. It seems the only Brit plane that can truly be called a commercial success was the Vickers Viscount
@tim60s321 The Comet didn't do too badly either. I know the first version of the Comet had a few problems but let's not forget, were it not for the lessons learnt from the dangers of square windows on pressurised aircraft, Boeing and McDonnell Douglas wouldn't have know to have put circular windows on thier aircraft and would've faced much the same terrible scenario.
@tim60s321 The Comet 4, although not sold in huge numbers, did have avery long and successful career not to mention it's very succesful military variants, in particular the Nimrod, which is arguably the best aircraft in the world at what it does. It's such a shame yet also an all too familar sequence of events that led to the cancellation of the fantastic MRA4. It seems each successive government is evermore determined to reduce our military capability to that of Luxembourg
British Aircraft are in my opinion the best with American & German coming 2nd & 3rd
