I like how in your animations the objects the characters are working with look as if they have weight. nothing here looks like its floating; such as when the man picks up that bowl. it looked heavy
Hi I just saw your movie I do not understand! the first animation c the same as mine, seeing I would like to know if you renewed your link? or the date of 2008 well thank you
Some of the scenes from your video look like some extracts from the animator survival kit of richard williams! Did you use some of his tricks to do your animation!
good work chaitanya...i like the characters. @irvin390 you can use adobe flash, toon boom etc.. for the digital version of your animations as far as i know
I don't know which one the artist used here, but there are a bunch available. One of the most popular is DigiCel Flipbook, I think you can download a free trial (just Google it).
I used Toom Boom Studio to put together drawings in video. All drawings were hand-drawn. But yeah, you can use a Wacom Tablet and software like Pencil or DigiCel FlipBook to do it entirely on the computer.
Thanks man. I did not use this to get a job, but just as a learning step before studying character animation in 3d. After that I had a new demo reel which got me my job. But I would definitely recommend anyone to learn a bit of 2d animation before learning computer animation.
Well, good job. i'm a beginner animator too but not half as good as you, so I was wondering if you could check out my videos and tell me what u think?
Awesome Stuff! Your animations flow very smoothy and have a really good sense of weight! I liked the ones with the person lifting the bowl and the one where its sawing the wood the most!
I went to this institute in my city, but dint get enough help in understanding animation. Still I got to use Animation discs and a line test camera :D
But I feel as though you are too worried about the finished drawing rather than the feel of it.
It all feels evenly spaced. Add some eases and drag to your animation. The weight lift needs to feel heavier. Add some stagger and really push it.
Don't be afraid to give it squash and stretch. I'd say take just a few of your stronger ones and really push them. Work on them over and over until it feels stronger :)
Thanks for the feedback. You said it right, a year back when I did them I was too concerned about the finished look of the drawing, putting in less time on the actual flow of animation.
Since starting studying at AnimationMentor, I have made a lot of progress and now I can see what all wasnt working.
One thing I think you could do to improve your animation is to use more follow through action in some of the scenes. For example when your characters are doing certain actions they go through a key pose and then come to a dead stop, whereas it might be more natural if they shift slowly into a more relaxed pose. Other than that I think you've displayed the traditional principles really well :)
Nice work! I hope that I could create animation half as good as you. How long have you been in the field of animation?

Right on! I always read the Animator's Survival Kit and some of the exercises like the walk and such have been directly influenced by that.

I love the simplicity of ur animation characters. I actually preferred the ball and stick people over the complex sketch people.

Thanks, the "ball and stick people" are influenced by Disney animation. I tried to try and get that feel in them.

You can read more about it in these books -

"Drawn to Life by Walt Stanchfield"
