I love this! Was this your Gilman follow on project? It's a great idea. I am studying abroad at Yonsei University next semester and this video has made me extra excited! Thanks!
I want to go to Korea, It's just I don't know where I can get scholarships etc. It's frustrating but I really want to study abroad. My parents are too concerned but I just wanna see where I end up and see myself grow. Great video. ^_^
I'm planning on studying abroad next semester in Korea and I have just one question that has been bugging me. Is it difficult to get around Korea without knowing much Korean? I've been to Japan and it was fairly easy to get directions from someone by speaking english and a few Japanese words.
if you want to get around on your own, i recommend you to learn at least basic korean words like numbers or greeting words. it WILL be helpful to you if you ask someone in English with a bit of korean. plus, it depends on where you are going. if you are planning to get around in Seoul, i think it's ok to ask something in English and a few korean words. but if you are planning to go to rural areas, speaking only in english won't really work..
are korean universities better than canadian ones? i dont want to come back to canada or the states realizing my peers have better chance of employment. so then i presume the best thing to do after graduating as a bachelor in korea or master is to actually study there and work? isnt korea very crowded with substantially lower living standards compared to the west caused by over pricing of food products? plz answer these questions, thank u in advance!
@auesr I'm not the original poster, but I did study in Korea for a semester. I will answer some questions. It depends what program you are studying in. I think you should go to a Canadian university and then do a student exchange through the university to Korea. South Korea can be crowded, but I'm not sure where you heard about food products. Eating out in Korea is far cheaper than any place in North America. And the standard of living has never been a problem for me. It's was great.
@auesr It was definantly worth my time and money, and I would do it again if given the chance (in Korea or anywhere else in the world). Because my home university and the university I went to in Korea had an agreement, the semester I paid for was the exact same amount as I would have been paying if I were still studying at home. I also got a monthly bursary, which pretty much covered my living expensives (which was more than enough). The plane ticket was the most expensive.
wow lucky you. i wish the university im going to have the same agreement with a university in korea. how do you find out if they do? did you have a lot of free time in korea? did you get to travel around and go to events and concerts?
@auesr They may. You should check the International department at your university (or their website) to see where you could study on exchange. And yes, I had quite a bit of free time to travel and go to events and concerts. They usually have special events going on campus as well.
what college did you study at in Korea?? I want to study abroad in Korea at MTSU but I fear that they won't have that as a listed country when I'm a sophomore...what is there to do?
wow! my friend and i are applying to study abroad to korea as well. we both met in china when we were both studied abroad in china 2007. this vid is motivating. thankx :)
This is awesome. I am thinking about doing a summer abroad in South Korea but I am torn between going there and going to Brazil. How long were you there for?
Nice video. :) I actually got accepted to Study in South Korea myself for a semester. I'm at Inha University though, but this video still makes me excited. Glad I made a good choice then!
Oh you're really lucky. I want to be in Korea so badly. I'm going to study in Yonsei (Knocks on wood) in 1 years time. I'll be in Korea this summer for 2 months, whoo :D
I really want to study abroad in south korea but I am, well, kind of scare.
I mean I haven't lear the language yet and am probably going to get culture shock.
My family is not going along with the idea that well, mainly because they don't want to be separated from me for so long. But I assure that if I convince them some how that we can still be in contact they are going to give me full support.
Studying abroad in Korea was the best thing I have done in my life. It was a life-changing experience. I totally recommend it. The hardest thing to do is step out and go to Korea. There are ways you can keep in contact with your family. You can sign up for skype--it's a video phone program. Through it you can talk and see people that live far away. Altough I never used it, I had many friends that did.
heyyy .... same here , i wanna continue my studies in korea buh my parents arnt permitting me .......... my only hope is to get admission in ne korean university den mayb dey'll agree buh prob is i dunno nething abt admission process ..... gosh i really wanna study dere.
newayz hopefully ull family will agree ... GOOD LUCK
