Hey - I can't really see any details, but the only bug I know of that gathers like that is springtails, also known as collembola. You might be able to find some good images of these little guys - they're pretty diverse.
@memutic Thanks for that. Not even insects. Estimated 250k per square meter of topsoil worldwide including Antarctica. And fossils in the Devonian. I can't believe I haven't come across them before. They deserve some respect.
