  • I love it too.....Ricki Lee Jones has an inflection in her voice like no other. I wish someone would post The Horses CD version? I pray she is healthy and happy.

  • who said you have to be in church to worship christ??

  • she always sounds drunk or high.... it is really sad.... she used to be awesome!!

  • @linkee57

She does NOT sound drunk or high...this is how she ALWAYS sounds! And she is STILL FABULOUS!

    Period.

  • This is the month of May, and still beautiful!

  • Meeeeeeeeeoooooowwwwwwww !!!

  • Bastard Cat.... your gold toots

  • Schitterende en gevoelige uitvoering.

    Tien, nog niet overtroffen.

  • The first time I heard this, I thought, WOW! I didn't know Rickie Lee had it in her! Beautiful rendition! Ty for posting!

  • sublime

  • JESUS.

  • what an amazing song and amazingly sung

  • My favorite carol by my favorite female singer!

  • Bravo.....

  • What I love about it is the imperfection. Clearly, Ricki Lee is not using Auto-Tune.

  • This has been my favorite Christmas song of all time for over a decade. Whoever thought of putting this song, this group, and this singer together is a genius.

  • beautiful... play this cd every xmas morning for years now, its my little tradition... love it all and my favourite is track 3 St Stephens Day Murders with Elvis Costello (which i can't find on here)... thanks for the post.

  • what better way to begin the 2009 season then by playing this wonderful version, which simply is the very best I have ever heard.

  • I really appreciate your kind words. And you´re right. This is by far the best version there is. I got it from an old friend of mine and love it of course!

    Thanks for your nice comment.

  • the most beautiful version of this hymn. It has been my absolute favorite since the CD came out (closely followed by tracy Chapman). I believe I was meant to be Rickie Lee jones.... someone must have switched us at birth

  • I also thank you. This is the most beautiful, sensuous rendering of this magnificent hymn.

    Thanks again and Merry Christmas!

  • Thank you immensely. I've been listening to other, very fine versions, but none match this one of Rickie Lee and the Chieftains.

  • Oh dear, no problem. You´re welcome. I´m glad that someone likes it as much as I do.

  • @slampoetistas When I first bouht this album, I was stunned by this performance. I still am. Thank you for posting this. I love this.
