  • Not minecraft : Voxatron !

  • shut the fuck up about minecraft already

  • awesome !

  • +1 for the song

  • @arbayer2: For all relevant uses, you could say that Minecraft uses voxels. Technically speaking, it actually uses poxels, which is when you use polygons to mimic the effect of voxels, which is mostly done for the benefit of hardware rendering, though in Minecraft's case it was also for putting textures on the blocks and to save the trouble of writing octrees in Java.

  • Good thing those weren't legos, because I'd hate to have that person's job.

  • Voxels had such a popularity BOOM starting a few years ago

  • and thats how minecraft was made....

  • @SooGAlmostH my thoughts exactly!

  • @SooGAlmostH Minecraft doesn't use voxel.

  • @Fosax Blocks are essentially voxels.

  • @Fosax From the Minecraft WIki: "Minecraft uses a voxel system which is an incremental 3D grid in which each grid point holds data for a single block.

Everything in a map is either a block or an entity."

  • must have been a bitch to render :/

  • @skully367 That's the point. :|

  • Hey, it's Minecraft IRL! :D

  • @SilverSnakeEyes Besides the fact that both this and Minecraft are epical, they quite frankly have nothing to do with each other.

  • So that's where the lego 3d came from

  • I honestly find this hard to believe that a instruction kit for CPU's or Motherboards or even standalone graphic cards using VOXEL will be supported. In order to use something that is infinite in detail, imagine the raw power needed to use this. This is going to be incredible. But still..

  • @deathscreton - What the fuck are you talking about?

  • @deathscreton Unlimited detail is actually not as hard as it seems, since a computer only needs to render the resolutions worth of pixels. You can look up unlimited detail on Youtube and there is a quick explanation. Basically the computer, instead of generating an entire 3D environment and displaying what the camera can see, selects ONLY the pixels the monitor needs to display.

  • @kiashadowwave yes, but depending on how far you set the detail range, the computer first needs to calculate which pixelcolor it should display.

Even Ray based rendering will need to go through the data and check for intersection to render.

  • Hahah its like Minecraft!

  • Nice animation. Do you think you could do a break down of how you created it? I'm very interested on how you created such an animation with the blocks without it taking months of meticulous animation work.

  • google "voxels"

  • a great clip with a great track - genious jon hopkins

  • Amazing.

  • I like the way all the cubes move.

    This is art!!

    Good work!!

  • I get pleasure from knowing that those who appreciate this type of hidden art, makes them feel something :)

  • Beautiful.
