amazing, isn't it? I'm probably one of the few people who actually Searched this video rather than stumble upon it simply because I have remembered this commercial for all these years.
i remember playing nights for 16 hours straight...when you are 13 or 14 that is a long time and it took me forever to even figure out how to reach the last boss dealing with the ratings for the levels. it was a great game but the controller that came with it was nuts it almost resembles the old xbox controllers. this was a great system i dont know how it died really...same with the dreamcast what a remarkable leap and it too died...i forsee the ps3 following in their footsteps.
The Saturn died because of piss poor management from bernie Stollar. He was brought in as new president of SOA about 2 years after the Saturn was released, and as soon as he came in he made it quite clear that Sega was gonna stop focusing on the Saturn and immediately start focusing on the Dreamcast. This pissed off Saturn owners and long time Sega loyalists such as myself BIG TIME. The Dreamcast had a lot of potential, but 3rd party supporters wanted nothing to do with it at that point.
@ericmaguscloud Its due to poor marketing and bad timing when the saturn came out most people alerady had a sega cd or 32x or both and they didnt want to shell out another 400 bucks to sega. I my self waited for the saturn because i was informed and i do have to say it was and still is a awesome system with some real good titles. the dream cast for that matter was relesed just too soon and it didnt have the ability to play sega saturn or sega cd games so not many people bought into it.
@ericmaguscloud the main reason Dreamcast died was because everyone bought a PS2 cuz it had a DVD player much like the PS3 has a Blu-Ray player at the time it was the cheapest DVD player u could buy (DVDs were new at the time) and same goes for PS3 its the cheapest Blu-Ray player u can buy so in a way Dreamcast just lost to a DVD player if only they had one in the Dreamcast, Sega might still be making consoles i had a Dreamcast when i was 11 maybe 12 but when PS2 came out i stopped playing it :(
yes, the hardware was superior to psx but sony kicked sega's ass really really.. reaaaally hard

"it almost resembles the old xbox controllers..."
Correction, the old Xbox controllers resemble the Saturn 3D Controller. lol
The Saturn failed in the US but it was successful in Japan. I agree with you about the Dreamcast.

@ericmaguscloud Answer: poor marketing. It's all in how you sell it.
SEGA's American marketing department deserved to be hanged.

Doesn't anyone read the "About this video" on the top right of the page? Your question is shortly addressed there.
Honestly, I don't know why it plays on youtube that way. It plays fine off my computer. It's a shame too, this commercial is great!
