I am a total beginner to Ableton and production altogether, can someone tell me what effect is being used to fade in the drums at the beginning and fade them out at 2:59? Thanks and the song is awesome!
i've just purchased the nocturn49. does anybody know a nice software plugin which I can use to assign samples to the keys and drumpads? and if so, what DAW should I use? I currently use Fruityloops XXL Studio
@vinnierkc Fl might not suport certain knobs as it doesn't on my m-audio oxygen board BUT You can get reason and just rewire it in fl studio as I do so you get the best of both worlds.
Dude thats a cool sound you got there and some nice piano skills :).If i need more "keys" in the future i will definitely be getting the nocturn 49 or 61... i mean i know it's a good midikeyboard but just LOOK AT IT :). for now i think ill keep myself busy a few months with the launchpad and remote sl25 mk2 :)
I'm trying to decide between an axiom 49 and a nocturn 49. This will be my first midi keyboard so I've been trying to do some research. I've got Windows 7 64bit right now I'm using Fl Studio but i'll most probably be switching to ProTools or Ableton. They are both pretty much the same price range for me so I really just need an opinion from some experienced users. Any suggestions?
there is only one problem with this keyboard. If you want to be able to a smooth velocity curve from 1 to 120 this is not a keyboards for you. In simple words you can either play very hard only or very soft. There is no middle. If you use to trigger piano vsts it will frustrate you. For no velocity sensitive synths is perfect
I was actually just wondering if you are on the soundcloud? or myspace? Really like where you are going with this music - the jazz and dance sound. Would be great if you could get back to me because would love to see what else you've done. Cheers mate
How does the Nocturn hold up to the Remote SL series in terms of quality? I'm looking to buy an easy to operate MIDI controller for my VST's and synthmodule, but am a big fan of quality feel of buttons and keys.
No wonder you flow so well with the novation gear coz you work for them ( rob jones )... it would take years of nutting out to build up this flow .... im still stumbling through the basics on my sl mk2 . it tends to do its own thing sometimes .... each step at a time tho hey .
ok I know this video is a while ago, and please call me a n00b for not knowing this but does the nocturn have various sounds for like synths and that kind of stuff or just that basic paino sound?
@helmettilt96 Heh. The Nocturn isn't making any sound. It's just sending midi data to his laptop/cpu which is hosting a vst that is generating the sound. The controller itself doesn't make any sound. It just tells the computer what to do.
what does nocturn SL MkII have over this for the higher price range? i like this as it has a very minimalistic approach to the knobs and buttons, am ok with no sliders, but not sure why it's cheaper than SL MkII or MPK
@DrRedeemerPL Nocturn is a really good one - it's affordable, works well and is well put together - I definitely recommend that over the cme. However, it is a biased opinion as I used to work for Novation! r
i've read all this over a matter of time because i want to make a good choice for my first controller its a habit of mine to read everything b4 i buy. I think these kb's come with abelton lite too so you can just patch away and get started.
i have heard that this is the controller to get the keys are propper weighted and the quality is of top standard, as for the akai pro mpk25-61 range i have heard also that the volume sliders are very zipper like and the first thing people do is change the drum pads to better ones. Axiom has won of the worse ratings for quality and feel some people have even bought them and broken it within 2 months of normal use, stay away from axiom.
What would you get, this or the akai mpk25? really hard to decide cause of the mpk25's many functions although the novation seems more easier to use :S
@loociousz I'm biased as I've been using Automap for ages so I'd always say go with that. The keys are great on the Nocturn too. I'm sure the Akai is a good choice but the Novation will most likely be more adaptable to suit your controlling needs because of Automap's flexibility and ease.
@SHIFTtheMC I had a Nocturn 25 but went over to the MPK49 which is overall a better keyboard (for me) but I really liked the drumpads better on the Nocturn. despite those being the highly acclaimed mpc series pads.
the only thing is that you can't set a note length, but that's usually not important with drum samples.
Super !!! Thanks !!!

Ok, another what would you get question? This or the yamaha KX 61. The KX 61 has a little less assignable buttons. but i dont really mind that?
So what do you think is the best keyboard?

@SHIFTtheMC The drum pads are good. I haven't used them too much but they feel fine to me and can be calibrated using Automap....

i've a bug with the drumpads, sometime some of them don't work... it should happen when i switch between user, inst, fx, mixer banks...
