  • oh i love this movie !!!

  • It is proved that Anna isn't a royal member of the family. DNA sampling showed that she is just a factory worker from Poland.

Anastasia died in 1918 with the rest of the imperial family.

  • mini Christian Bale <3

  • Anna Anderson was proved by DNA testing not to be Anastasia or any relative of the Romanovs. The testing was done years ago now. Moreover, the remains of all four of the Tsar's daughters have now been identified, also through DNA testing. None of them survived that night in the Ekaterinburg cellar, in 1918.

  • what if that Anderson girl was the reincarnate of Anastasia? I mean it's possible.

  • @iamlourds That's not possible, as Anna Anderson was already born while "Princess Anastasia" was still alive.

  • @iamlourds hmm i searched on the internet and saw loads of documentaries. It seems that when Anna Anderson died, they tested her DNA and did not find it matching that of Princess Anastasia..so i guess that proved she really wasnt royalty..

  • what is really odd is that the empress has an American accent which seems totally incongruous. If anything, surely she should have a German accent.

  • Tzar was a grandchild of Queen Victoria anways so I'd be more surprised if they had a russian accent.

  • why did people pretend to be anastasia and not maria?

  • @onetwothreeuno don't know, that's strange!

  • @onetwothreeuno she's prettier? xD

  • Omar Sharif does not look a thing like Nicholas. The tzar was short and skinny. Omar Sharif is tall and fat.

  • @TheDarksaber12 None of the grand duchesses look right either, Tatiana was a lot more lithe and pretty than the girl they've got... Also, Nastya is characterized terribly. I wince and I didn't even know her.

  • WTF ? is it christian bale :D

  • @mrSweden888 Yep this is really him= )

  • @mrSweden888 OH YEAAAAAHHH!!

  • So, Mr. Bale, this is your other film as a very young man Tsaraevich Alexei is one of my favorite personages of Russian history. thank you doug

  • Did prince Frederick really fell in love with Anna?

  • Is the boy christian bale ?

  • @victoria1987f Yep, it really is him= )

  • English accents in Russia.

    SEEMS LEGIT

  • @Kari166 technically the Tsar was a distant relative of Prince Philip, so they did have the English lineage, but yeah they could have gotten some dialect coach to at least attempt a Russian accent.

  • @tmwalkerm That's true, but they actually spoke English more often than they did Russian, as it was enforced by the Tsar and Tsarina to be bilingual.

  • @Moviechick3994 yeah you're right, thanks :)

  • @tmwalkerm Not a problem, I just love learning about their history :)

  • @Moviechick3994 yeah me too, them and Anne Frank, I'm obsessed LOL

  • @tmwalkerm Your not the only that's obsessed...I can't stop watching these true story movies, I love them.

  • Omar Sharif is almost unbearable to look at as the Tsar.

  • The imperial family never called Rasputin 'Rasputin'-- it was always Grigory, or Grishka.

  • @sidwellian2012 I never said they did!!

  • @MagicJems I know you didn't. I mentioned it because in the movie Alexandra says Rasputin.

  • @sidwellian2012 Oh I see. Sorry= )

  • Holy moley, is that a young Christian Bale?

  • @changfu Yep, it sure is= )

  • @changfu Oh my gosh! I wouldn't have guessed that if you didn't point it out!

  • Why is the Tsar .... not Russian!? He does even have the Blue eyes that is most known about the Tsar!

  • @klutzylynn I think the production team wanted Omar Sharif as he was in great demand for great parts, hence why he is playing The "Tsar"!!

  • @klutzylynn Many German and Dane in the family. The last true Russian Tsar was Peter.

  • Comment removed

  • for those who love this story, you MUST read ZOYA by Danielle Steel. Read it last summer and it struck me with all its force. I recommend it firmly to you all

  • @ramloe I love that book too, you get a sense of the Tsar's family being real people form it

  • @cookiemonster1998201

Rasputin wasn't evil. He was corrupt and opportunistic, yes, but he wasn't outright evil. He was a poor man that managed to get in good with royalty and took advantage.

  • I think Omar Sharif was miscast as the Tsar, he doesn't really resemble him all that much.

  • @MsSilentsiren I think they cast him as he was and still is a respectable actor.

  • @MsSilentsiren

Agreed. He'd make a better Alexander III.

  • Is that a young James Brolin???

  • @Tangirl42 No, It's a young Christian Bale= )

  • The dude who plays Nicholas looks more like his father Tsar Alexander

  • @cookiemonster1998201 In my opinion, the real Rasputin was not evil at all. He was just misunderstood. There are two lines of dispute here. One, that he is evil and the other opinion is, that he had the power of hypnosis and auto suggestion.

  • what's the song at 03:21?

  • hey on 3:29 and 14:47 remindes me of the cartoon anastaisa where she sings once upon a decmebr and she is dancing with her dad at the end

  • i like the cartoon version much better :/ and if they live in Russia, why do they have English accsents?

  • @imaguitarhero25 If there were talking in there native tongue, would you understand what they are saying?;/

True there are subtitles but, not everyone likes to read them as they might miss the plot of the story.

The cartoon version is good too but the character Rasputin, is all wrong. He doesn't rise from the dead and has his limbs fall off etc etc

.The songs to the cartoon version are cool though= )

  • @MagicJems i know but i've watched the cartoon versionn a thousand times and i guess im just used to it

  • @imaguitarhero25 That's okay. The cartoon version is good too= )

  • @MagicJems i know. theres a stupid version where anastasia has talking instruments. i guess thats the stupid 3-year-old version.

  • @imaguitarhero25 The imperial family all spoke and often conversed in English. The Tsarina was German, but brought up by Queen Victoria and considered English her first language, and actually struggled with the Russian Language.

  • @imaguitarhero25

It would actually make some sense that they would have English Accents. Nicholas was fluent in English and Alexandra had an English upbringing and required her children to speak English in front of her.

  • @imaguitarhero25 'because they're english... ^^!

  • @imaguitarhero25 well the american accent would be more suitable? why? do they live in US? language is not important(accents too). Of course the best version would be the russian version but they didn't make one. So if the movie was directed by some french guy, people would speak french in russia. Get it? -oh by the way i agree with your first sentence ! cartoon was better! see ya.

  • @imaguitarhero25 In case you were still wondering, it is because the actors are English. Why do they (for the most part) have American accents in the animated version?

  • i like the cartoon version much better :/

  • Tsar was supposed to be short and much smaller than Omar

  • okay i understand wanting to kill the king and queen, i've read what they were like, but killing the KIDS!? It's not like they asked to be born! They didn't do anything! Just let them go :(

  • @sokkacool I don't think the King and Queen and there children should have been killed in the first place. They should have been exiled instead!

  • @MagicJems good point. it would have been so much better if they did!

  • @MagicJems "No man, no problem" is what i have often heard about the Russian policies, especially after the World War II

  • @MagicJems The Tsar and Tsarina should not have been killed - they should have been exciled but unfortuneately no nation seemed to be willing to take them in - politics were at work here - so the Tsar, Tsarina, four Grand Duchesses and the Tsarvitch all died terrible deaths!

  • @TimpleTapper What you say is very true. Even the English king "George V" didn't help out much either. Family should always stick together in every emergency!!

  • @MagicJems Family should stick together but unfortunately - King George the Fifth was more than just a member of Tsar Nicholas's family - He was the King and Emperor of the British Empire - much of the British Empire was unhappy with Russia and the King/Emperor had to take that into consideration. Many people also believed that the Russian Royal Assassination would never really take place - this was also the time the Royal Family of Britain changed its name to the House of Windsor.

  • @TheAltaRose Very true words. Mind you, King George V did have his own problems. He had a son who had epilepsy (named Prince John) who kept him hidden from the pubic eye and the other son Prince Edward would one day ruin his chance of being a King, as Prince Edward later King Edward, would fall in love with Wallace Simpson!

  • @MagicJems - unfortunately Edward (David) Prince of Wales did become King Edward 8th for a short time - fortunately his love for Wallis Simpson took him off the throne - many believe that the Duke of Windsor was a traitor to Britain - King George 6th was a good King - no doubt things unfolded as they were meant to. Elizabeth 2nd has been an excellent queen. If Tsar Nicholas had paid some heed to the changes in the British Monarchy - the Romanov's might have survived!

  • @TimpleTapper Yes, I do agree with what you say= )

  • @MagicJems I agree, but the Rass man was an ass hole (I can't spell his name) and wanted things his way.

  • @sokkacool

first of all, it's Tsar and Tsarina not king and queen. Secondly, nobody deserves to die the way they were shot and tortured!

  • @KKislitsyna

Actually, the term is Tsaritsa. Tsarina is an English-only term and is wholly inaccurate.

  • @sokkacool

The children were killed because monarchists would have used them as a live banner to rally around. Had the White Army (monarchist sympathizers) won the civil war, it would be inevitable that one of the children would be the successor to the Russian crown. They also wanted to execute Nicholas's sister Olga and his mother, Marie for this exact reason.

  • @antisocialist87 true...but it's still disgusting

  • @myoost2010 Yep, Alexei is indeed played by "Christian Bale": )

  • I feel sorry for the children. they didn't choose to be born royal.

  • is the little boy played by christian Bale?? Because he looks alot like him!!

  • @ISingForYou3 Yes, it is indeed: )

  • what the hell is with all the coldness, rudeness and mystery of the royal family its stupid. the royal family fail to feed their people no wonder people revolted.

  • Thanks so much for downloading this, I always found this story so fascinating :).

  • @tmwalkerm My pleasure: )
