If it's the engine you want to year, my brother and I made a 1080p HD video of his 2008 Ducati 1098 a couple of days ago. No music was added for the people who want to get a better idea of what it sounds like.

It is only recent that the 1000cc multi cylinder bikes are competing with similarly displaced twin cylinder bikes! Everyone calling Ducati "cry babies" about the rules, please fully understand the situation before forming an opinion.
FYI: I do own a red 1098 (it is fantastic) and I do own a 4 cylinder bike also, the MV F4 (fantastic) but Ducati is a racing company that sells bikes to the public and it shows.
For people commenting on the different displacement set for all twin cylinder bikes (not just Ducati). There is a mechanical difference between engine configurations (4, 3, 2) so, different rules govern them to even the playing field. It has not been to long ago that (up to 750cc) 4 cylinder (considered superbikes competing) against (up to 1000cc) twins, the ducati 916/996/998, Aprilia Mille, Honda SP1/SP2, Suzuki TLR, and so on...
The only reason that ducati winning MOTOGP because, they drop from 1000cc to 800cc so ducati can compete. pretty much like world superbike, forcing honda, suzuki, yamaha to used stricter plate to reduce their horse power so ducati can compete. sorry azz ducati.
wtf are you on about? They all (including ducati) use 4 cylinder engines in 800cc motogp. Ducati have more horsepower in motogp cos of their desmo valve system, honda and yamaha this year are way off horsepower cos of their outdated spring setup. suzuki use compressed air. Ducati uses a screaming V4 as well in motogp, and have a great valve train system so deal with it.
but they all compete on the same rules, it is free to build your motor anyway you want, within the rules - so that it som true bs you are writing. (Don't compare with SBK, Moto GP is not stockbikes)
This is old news. For the past few years, World superbike removed restrictions on Japanese liter bikes (mostly, including resitrictor plates). This is why Ducati developed the 1098 to compete. And as usual, World Superbike officials allowed the displacment increase. I want to own an 848, and I love the Tamburini 916s, but I can't stand Ducati's "Cry Baby" attitude when they can't win races. Remember when WSBK turned into the Ducati for a time? I hope it doesn't happen again.
ok, i love this video, i love the person who put it here so we can experience it, i love the person who made it, i love the bike, i love who rode the bike, i love the sound of the bike, so can the music be a little bit less please?
I've never thought 999 was a good-looking bike, I've always thought it was an insult to 916. And most of Ducati fans think. But it's a good bike, it's fast, it's nice to ride. What's getting me angry is that Ducati didn't sell so much and did a new bike 5 years after; they go on telling shit on the 999 as it wasn't even a Ducati. I'd prefer they would admit that they made an incredible mistake trying to replicate the myth of 916.
I'd vomit too if I had a 999 and realized the 1098 weighs less, has more horesepower, and looks much better. And oh yeah, costs less. Did I leave anything out?
I still love my 999. The only thing i like about the 1098 is the twin cans under the seat and perhaps the single sided swingarm. The fron fairing makes me want to vomit
Thank god they redesigned that aweful looking 999. Forgive the lad. Most people when they think of bikes, they think of how it sounds like in the movies, mostly high revving 4 cyl. bikes. they've never heard the barritone of twins before.
On youtube, rarely do you hear a 1098 ticking over that doesn't sound like a tractor. When you hear one in the flesh so to speak, you realise how much these videos don't do the engine note justice.
that thing must get taken to the dealership for service a lot.. POS

???
800cc is the reason? why?
capirossi was able to win the champioship with 1000cc but he get injured in that season.
in the superbike championship they use twins, the japanese use 4 cylinders. so it's just fair to use stricter plate to reduce hp.
