A strong gigantic empire was wiped out after blowing up a very "Small" spacestation? while they still had a shit ton of planets? all they needed was a leader and the shit was still on! Great. Doesn't make sense for the Venator class destroyers to operate in such close formation. When one is blown up, it's scattering debris would seriously damage nearby sister ships, which is exactly what happened in this clip when the Rebel flag ship blows up a destroyer with its superlaser ring.

@trent8002003 Depends on the size of the debris. Smaller parts wouldn't do much, it's the "one third of the ship" sized parts that's quite dangerous. But I think that scene was kind of exaggerated. Ships doesn't break up like that by turbolaser fire in the first place. It would require the entire reactor to blow up, or really overcharged siege guns.

Also maybe of interest to you everything is real world physics i.e ships manuvering as they really do in space, the pyhisical and psychological effects of long terms in space, the dangers of space junk and the Kessler syndrome. Its set around 2060 or so

@applesweeter Well there would be plenty of space based jobs like spaceship crew and associated space-traffic control, affordable space tourism. By 2060 Id hope we have moon colonies which might well cater for tourism too. Lunar based industry such as Helium-3 mining for spaceship fuel seems likely. I think private industries will end up driving things forwards, governements are too cautious only interested in political/military goals, look at how NASAs budget keeps getting messed with.

@genralr12 Maybe they function as hunter-killer packs? Since its obvious the clone pilots are much better then the Droids, and the Venator Star Destroyer seems to be about equal to 3-4 Clan frigates. Plus the Clan Frigates only have a single double turbolaser and two ion cannons for Ship to Ship Combat, compared to a the 8 duals the venator uses, (plus other single turbolasers along the hull) and they are probably much more powerful.

Then after those few minutes, nothing for the rest of the movie. Don't get me wrong, Ep III is a good movie. But it didn't have the right formula for the space combat like the originals did or this little video clip we are watching here.

As for computer graphics vs. live action... the space combat in the movies IS computer graphics.

Ships cant hyperspace near planets (or any gravitic pull) , and that battle showed a ship jumping in the damn atmosphere.. and the physics in how the ocupans behave afterwards while flying in space just made clear how ignorant and care free the CGI artists are
