@toadstool177 I started playing ten years ago, but when I quit taking lessons after six years I stopped playing for a while. Now, since about a year and a half I'm playing regularly again.

@toadstool177 I think the left hand rythm is somewhat difficult, but the song is very repetitive and that makes it easier. I learned it in about two hours.

@toadstool177, the Pakistani harps are quite reasonable if you want a floor harp (not terribly good quality though), Harpsicle harps makes some small models that cost under $1000, and Craigslist can be a good bet if you know what you're looking for. I got my Sylvan harp there. :-) Many, many people learn harp from books - and for added instruction, you can keep coming back to YouTube and checking out how the professional harpists play.

Just for the record when buying a harp, the Pakistani harps seem reasonably priced but the strings are usually too close together or too far apart. When you learn to play the harp on one of these and then you try to play a real one you will not be able to transfer anything you've learned. Also, they sound awful.

I teach harp lessons and for my students who do not want to invest in a real harp I reccomend harpsicles because they feel like real harps and are cheap.

I suppose everyone's experience is different. I played various Pakistani harps for eight years. When I purchased a Sylvan by Heartland Harps last October, it took me one day to adjust to the string spacing. I could have gotten lucky, but my Pakistanis always sounded okay, too. Not fabulous (and I did say that below) - the first time I played a professional-quality harp was amazing - but good enough for learning, especially if you want more than 26 strings and money is a concern.
