@asyon2vega I've never used after affects, I'm more of a max fan, but i like some of the videos of the new after affects mat line capabilities and would love to try them out.
a lot of these clips wear filmed and animated around 10 years ago, so the resolution was really low, i was either using a web cam to film them, or a handy cam and a video capture card, i usually had to capture the video at 320 by 240 ( all my computer could handle at the time).
nowadays i am able to do better, check out my real world tron light cycle video, it was all rendered in HD.
@houdini3dLegend No ALPHA channel was used, i did this more then 10 years ago, what you are seeing is a reflection of the CG model of my hand that i built so that my knuckles would reflect on the blades. it just so happened to match up in such a way that it gives the illusion that the blades are see through when in fact you are seeing reflections of my cg knuckles.
Funny fact: that background plate was filmed as frame by frame pictures because i didn't have a video camera at the time.
hey taoistflyer@ would u plzzzz help me .... if u give me ur email address and u can tell me step by step what to do and by the way where did u download the software from :) many thanx
@Ice8Fire Thanks, almost all the clips are nearly 10 years old and wear filmed with a web cam, it wouldn't even do video so the claws and spoon effects actually have frame by frame live action plates.
However the clips at 0:280:55 wear filmed with a canon XL1for a TV show
and the clip at 2:37 was filmed for a movie with one of the first Gorge Lucas 24p HD digital camera. I use an HD camera now, check out my latest video "RC superman" , I have him flying through cg rings like in superman 64
@BrianMastermind thanks for watching. I made CG finger knuckle models that are placed over the image of the hand, i was hoping it would make it look like the claws wear reflecting the skin of the knuckles, but the camera angle makes it look like the claws are see through, if you pause it and look at the bottom claw you can see that it is the knuckle reflecting on the blade, but the top claws reflection matches up exactly to what you would see if the claws wear see through.
Nice ones! You worked on some big movies too? I am also doing special effects, but in Cinema 4D. I understand also the technical stuff about other 3d software. I would be glad to have a conversation about 3d animation with you.
That's amazing! yeah, I've wanted to get a copy, but that software is WAY out of my league price-wise... :-( but yeah, amazing stuff! I love the chess board chaos at the end... lol
Amen, man I'm trying to get alot of people into them too, I burnt a bunch of copies of Carver City and passed them out to random people. More power to ya
click on rendering then select environment from the drop down, wear it says background click browse and select your video file. This will make the video the background when you render your final animation, but it wont show up in the view port window, to get it to show up in the view port window, click on view, then select viewport background, select the video, click the setting that says match bmp and also select animate background, then do your animation, then render it.
it is a very user friendly animation program, it is the same program that was used to do the FXs on hollow man and gladiator, although they had some custom plug ins programed. You should try to get a copy, it's a lot of fun.
wow! that´s really cool! i made a vid with real movie and animation too. (but i didn´t do the animaton). but yours looks much better! hoe did you do the grat shadows?? really cool!
Thank you very much, If you use 3d studio max their is a texture called mat shadow. Build the basic 3d outline of an object like a table, then put the mat shadow texture on it. Mat shadow takes whatever the background video is and uses it as a texture. So the cg shadows get cast on the real texture in a 3d manner. If you want a further explanation i would be glad to help.
cool! thx! i´m not sure, if i understood the details (i´m german), but i think, i got the main idea! so, you have to bulid each object (like a coach or a chair) in the programm... sounds like a lot of work! but really interessting! thx
an other question: are you able to put an animation in a film with moving kamera? is there a (free) software, that recognizes the moves of the cam, an puts it in the animation cam? know what i mean? would be glad about an answer!
Thats correct you need to build each object, you don't have to make them very complex, as long as they have the same basic outline. 3d studio max can do camera tracking but it is very time consuming. You have to set up tracking points before you film, then you tell studio max how far apart the points are and it tries to track the camera movement. Camera tracking is very hard, i always do it 1 frame at a time.
It took A long time. These wear clips from animations i have been doing for years. Every second of footage represents about 5 or 10 of minuets work. Some took longer to do then others but each scene took a few hours.
