Sweet move thanks.. Love when you post something that makes me wana go train straight away lol. I shall be drilling this one very soon and hopefully get to use it if/ when i get the oppertunity :)
@Submissions101 If i think ive came across an effective technique that hasnt been used professionally who do i tell? its like a crucifix but ive really never seen anyone do it this way and its really easy for me to get to when i have a triangle choke opportunity from full guard...so i figure why not show someone and see what they think..maby they can work with it and i could have created something nifty ^_^
@scorched165 not at any tournament I have been to and I have been to many. But I forgot to mention I was talking Gi mainly. A lot of tournaments will let anything go in no gi
@bulldog1879 I am talking about reputable tournaments such as naga pan am world grappling etc... national know tournament. I have been to many tournaments where they allow them but its a local gyms tournament. I have also been to tournaments where they are not allowed in Gi but anything is allowed in no Gi.
@tusccountyjiujitsu yeah, and that is stuff which should really be covered off when teaching this (he covers one side, but doesn't even mention them armbarring his left arm which is much more common imo). There are much better defences, I would defo not be reaching over with my arm unless the guy was almost at the point of tapping me.
@brockoless I have a long way to go..trust me.In BJJ, it takes years of mat time to get there. I need to constantly refine and learn new things. I am in no rush.
@2StepMurder it seems to me that certain disciplines seem to favour different colours due to tradition, but none actually limit the practitioner to them. A lot of eastern martial arts have Taoism influences where white is the beggining [begginer] and the end [12 dan] and also symbolises purity in body and mind.In eastern cultures a blue gi is also acceptable in competitions and any other colour is viewed as some osrt of mockery to the arts sub-culture, this doesn't apply for most western dojos.
Thing is back in 1990 @ Proph. Pedro Sauer class in Lindon Utan school I had Mr. Mark Schultz. you know him as same that we all know Olymipic Gold Medal champ. When I gave him that movement he went for the Americana and taped him in that. He got made left the dojo and went on a walk for 1hr then never seen him train at the same school again. That is one issue with some people that train It dont matter if you tap million times just brush it off and keep training :) Thanks Ari for Sharring.
@LUK3SYboy Always remember "position before submission". Offense is great but it is defense and escapes that will save you in jiu jitsu and make it possible to start your offense.
@LUK3SYboy Lol, until you get someone who can defend well and neutralizes all your offence and on the other side when they try a submission on you, easily making you tap as you don't know how to correctly defend. Trust me, a good defence makes for a good offence.
Brilliant, Ari, just brilliant. You're like a judo...scientist. This will definitely come in "handy" during future practices. Thankyuu so much for the tutorial and can't wait to see more counters and escapes!
Note: don't forget about the audible tap! If both hands are locked up and you aren't able to tap quickly, audibly "tap." Don't take chances with your joints! Takes forever to heal! Good video as always Ari. Train safely, guys :)
Great video! First off wrist locks are not illegal in the UFC they are hard to do with the gloves on. In BJJ wrist and ankle locks are not allowed for lower belts but they are for brown and black belts.
@hendersona49 In some tournaments, wrist locks are allowed for lower belts, including white. I believe some also allow straight ankle locks (but no heel hooks, etc).
@hendersona49 depend on how strong you are and how well you understand wrist locks and have trained doing that movement.. I have over the years taped alot of people doing that movement and it works really great in Tours :)
@hendersona49 ah so that is why, I got fucking tapped out by a brown belt the moment I put hands on his stomach in his guard, I was like damn can you do wrist locks
@themeaningoflife38 Not really all you need to do scoot your hip to one side slightly and then secure a deep hook on their leg with your leg. They can't roll you then ;-)
@Submissions101 I don't like that position because you sacrifice an arm and a leg used for posting for the setup and the torque isn't as great because of the angle of pressure. From kesa the hand doesn't move far for the setup, it's not being used for posting in kesa and because of the way you do the lock with your leg the force is greater on the shoulder.
@yellowmon123 Not sure what you mean. I would roll to the same side he is attacking since his weight is on that side. But I'm no black belt or anything so I could be wrong.
@themeaningoflife38 well its a great technique in street fight and against white belts but what i mean is you grape vine his legs and shift your weight to the opposite side your attacking if the guy bumps he leaves himself open
@themeaningoflife38 yes but if you look at it from the gracies point of view , you can say that the hooking of the opponents legs opposit to the arm that you are attacking , will serve as a solidd base , and will prevent you from needing to post
Some MMA tourneys actually do have rules against wristlocks, but I would think that the real difficulty would be performing it on some one wearing gloves with their wrist taped up. That said, this is an excellent tech for sd or grappling tournies. I love those simple but effective moves!
@jamiegee123 not sure, in the ufc you cant even hold the gloves but you would probably just get a warning. If someone tries this move when you're on the bottom just bridge and roll them
I didn´t know Ashton kutcher practice BJJ.

You gotta watch with this technique though, it can be used to set up S Mount and potential armbar.

That's a pretty cool gi. Like the color.
Can somebody answer this: Is there a reason why Gis are only white blue and sometimes black? Do different belts wear different gis?

@themeaningoflife38 do it from kesa gatame with the leg, more pressure and you dont sacrifice balance
