  • Why the hell should they change the law in Mass. just to fill the senate seat? It was the democrats who enacted this law a few years go to prevent a republican from being selected without an election. This is bullcrap.

  • She let that over weight drunk run around on her and treat her like dirt and you want her to go and let all those guys in congress do the same to her

  • law not men..? not anymore.

  • Since when did we become a fucking oligarchy?

  • Yea, thats what we need, another dumbass sell out kennedy ! Ever hear of the election process? This is why this country is a failed democracy! Stupid politically correct stupidity!

  • Someone who is unemployed should get the job,no more elites and their bloodlines for the New World Order should be put in office.

  • The hell with these lawyers and liars, the people should elect who they want, everyone is tired of the elites and their ponzi schemes. Ted K. lied and said he received one million votes for Amnesty in one night from the American People, Ted K. is a FRAUD.

  • Oh yes, what a brilliant idea! Lets replace a socialist with another socialist. Hatch is a pathetic old man who has no business in office.

  • I think this should be left up to the people of MA the way the law says it should be. I love how the libs want to change the law now because it's a dem in office...

  • To be fair, they should select someone who most closely matches Ted's state of mind on the final moments after he passed. How about Caroline?

  • Caroline is a total airhead who is incapable of even completing a sentence. I guess she would be a perfect replacement for Teddy, but maybe we should see what the people of Massachusetts think.

  • In the final moments after he passed, Ted's state of mind was probably "Damn it's hot down here!"

  • Don't the Kennedys have any close relatives or friends who are black? I didn't see many black folks at Ted's funeral Mass, but I'm sure hundreds of them must have been in attendance.

The most enduring tribute to Kennedy's legacy would be to elect / select a black person.

  • I think it is stupid, for the wife to take the seat..my husband is a plumber..if something happened to him, i am sure I could not take his place...and thats with plumbing, come on Idiots we are talking about a senate seat, give it to someone who deserves it...not for sentimental reasons....

  • With all respect, you've made a false analogy.

I'm sure that is true in you and your husband's case. Plumbing is actually a technical trade that depends on years and years of knowledge to do *well*--ask him.

Ted Kennedy's wife Vicky has been in the thick of Ted's political and legislative life for almost two decades. By everyone's account, she is brilliant, and she also has the social and other requisite abilities and skills.

  • Being in the thick of Teds political life, means nothing to me .I am tired of people always trying to tell us how Brilliant someone is, as if that is enough, sorry but Give the set to someone who deserves it..someone who has actually done something in politics, BESIDES marrying into it...

  • I'm sorry your tired of hearing it--it doesn't make it any less true. Brilliant is good--we want someone who is very smart as well as someone who has a good heart.

She deserves it just as much as anyone else does. The fact that she herself hasn't been a politician is, by itself, not a reason to discount her, I believe.

  • We want someone brilliant, someone smarter than most of us, who also has a good heart. She has both qualities.

She deserves it just as much as anyone else -- she knows the game and has worked with her husband closely -- the fact that she herself has not been a politician shouldn't disqualify her.

  • Yowzoe:If she's so smart, why'd she have to marry someone nearly twice her age to get her money?

  • mrbriscoe, there's not a thing to what your saying, as you probably really know unless you're a complete goof. I just think that if you ought to turn off "hate radio" maybe you'll stop parroting stupidities and begin to think for yourself. Or did you make that one up all by yourself?

  • Yowzoe The only kind of woman who marries someone twice their age is a social climber or a golddigger:You wouldn't have your lips on her ass unless you were connected in some way;guess what? Most americans hate the idea of Royalty, father to son or husband to wife;let somebody who earned their station in life get the job.

  • mrbriscoe, you are sooo smart!

How did you get so smart? You seem to know how the world works so well! You must be urbane, well-travelled, literate, and very compassionate.

Actually, your first sentence tells me that you are a small-minded, arrogant asswipe who knows little about the way the world works.

Your next sentence tells me that you're a crude lowlife fuckhead.

And your grammar and punctuation tell the world that you're a clueless, illiterate, simpleton.

Who the fuck are you, moron?

  • If she doesn't do it I hope they pick someone like Michael Dukakis, who is also someone who had worked hard on issues concerning healthcare reform, and who has no interest in a political future.

  • No interest in a political future man talk about naive...as a teenager I still remember Mike in a army tank trying to be tough . It was humiliating to say the least .and even as a teenager then . I knew this guy was a idiot, and so far my view of him remains the same.hopefully the state will get someone,to work for the people ..and not just another has been...

  • if your opinion about Gov Dukakis was shaped by a political ad created to discredit him then you are a sample of the type of informed voter that the GOP is always counting on. Have you even tried to take a look at his record as governor? The story behind the tank ad? The real story behind the Willie Horton ads? So if you see it on tv you believe it?

  • oldtownkid:The economy of Massachusetts was a disaster when Dukakis came back from his Presidential campaign;the Liberal bumkissers at the Boston Globe wouldn't report on the deterioating local economy during the Duke's run;as far as Willie Horton goes,Dukakis DID furlough a first degree murderer, who subsequently raped a woman and beat up her boyfriend;the issue was common sense ,but because the prisoner was black ,dems accused Bush of race baiting when it was brought up.

  • the media is simply creating this story out of thin air. They provide no evidence that this is a likely or even remotely preferable option to literally any alternative. I'm not sure why this crossed anyone's mind when there are hundreds of people that are qualified and willing to take this position.

  • The only surprise here is the fact that they would even waste the time changing the law. The rule of Law to Democrats is WHATEVER.

  • How about letting the people elect someone to replace the drunk murderer? ::shock::

How long has it been since the brain dead drunk cast a vote in the senate anyway? I think we can wait for a special election. No need to appoint another worthless Kennedy.

  • rofl, awesome comment.

  • Are you kidding? A brain dead casting a vote? How about all the Republicans in the Senate...those holier than though freaks that worship Money and use freaks like you to buy into their lies to get them reelected.

  • wow, you certainly got some attention... i guess it worked

  • That's pretty balsy to do something like this when it was Kennedy himself who championed a law against appointing replacement senators when Romney was in a position to use it.

    Damn balsy.

  • great idea

  • I have nothing but utmost respect for Senator Hatch and unfortunately I was the complete opposite before I knew about the love he had for Senator Kennedy and the love Ted had for Orrin. Thanks for showing this video.

  • It would be a big step for Vickie and as long as it's temporary I think the people of Mass would be ok with it. She certainly knew where Teddy stood. I see nothing wrong with it. But like both Senators said, it's up to her.
