@SuperKagomefan No kidding. But the Funimation voice actors (i.e., not THESE voices, these are the Animax voices) do make a close second. They don't just voice the characters, they actually act out the characters. By doing that, they end up making the roles their own. And by the end of the season, we get a dub that's very much worth watching.
People need to realize that voice actors are also about ACTING, not just voices. And that is where this particular dub truly fails.

We want Lucy on our TEAM!" In short, he says "Get lost and find a new 'Lucy' for us!"

But anyway, apparently you can see something in this dub that makes it worth listening to. And yes, there ARE worse dubs than this. MUCH worse dubs. But there are also better dubs. You should try the Funimation dub if you haven't already. I could link you to a clip.

Lucy's voice may fit here, but her delivery makes her sound GRATINGLY obnoxious. She may sound annoying in the Funi dub, but her sharper and wittier acting make up for it.

@patrick70943 Actually, FUNimation is dubbing this show. Episodes 1-24 have already been released on DVD/Blu-ray, and 25-36 will be officially released in a few days (plenty of people got their pre-orders early, though).

If you saw Brotherhood dubbed, the guy who plays Ling Yao (Todd Haberkorn) plays Natsu. And THAT is an awesome casting choice. If not that, then just imagine the voice of Riza Hawkeye (Colleen Clinkenbear) as Erza.

@SSJavenger Because the Funimation dub actually makes some jokes funnier. The Japanese version may have better actors, but I for one got the same amount of entertainment value from the first 24 episodes of the Funimation dub as I did the whole first season in Japanese.
@SSJavenger That said, if people don't like dubs, they could at least support Funi's licensing of Fairy Tail. So what if they've only got season one? They can get more with support. You think everyone is just gonna look on websites where episodes are uploaded illegally? Just look at Funi's upload of the first episode and see how many people are freaking out about Rave Master's Plue being in the OP (I know it's cuz FT and RM are made by the same guy). Fairy Tail deserves this much.

It's 24 episodes in (but only four are on YouTube) and, while not to the standards of the Japanese version (save episode 19, which I actually think sounds better in the Funi dub), is pretty damn good. I'm especially looking forward to episode 25, where Juvia meets Gray and shit gets real (yeah, Juvia's my favorite character). Her voice in episode 21 was very fitting for her character at the time, but it just couldn't satisfy me since that's not the aspect of her persona that I like the most.
I'm so glad I'm already a fan of this show. Because if I had just seen this for the first time with this horrible dub I would have hated it. The dubs are so bad , it's almost like they're making fun of the whole series. I suggest you watch it in Japanese with the English subs. The voice talent really makes ah BIG difference.
@tealandturquoise Well, this is actually one of TWO dubs. The other one is done by Funimation. And believe me, that one is one of the best damn dubs I have ever heard, and has the virtue of getting even better over time. There are currently 24 episodes dubbed by Funi available (but only the first four are on YouTube as of now). Trust me, even if you don't like dubs, it's at least better than this crap.

There's a scene where the fake Salamander states Lucy's name is Lucy Heartfilia, meaning Lucy told him her full name. But we all know that she doesn't want Fairy Tail to find out her identity, so she hid her last name from them. So why'd Lucy reveal her full name to someone she thinks is part of Fairy Tail, especially when she wants to join them? It's a huge contradiction and proves how little Animax cares.

The Animax dub is seriously lacking in the voice-acting-ability department and also suffers from a poorly-written script, which in some cases, doesn't make any sense (gotta love that "weirdo convention" line from episode 11). Let's not forget that some characters in the Animax version sound totally ridiculous (like Makarov, for instance)...

In the case of this dub, Animax stopped bothering with it after the first season and just switched to airing it in Japanese. But it only airs in Asia, so there's a reason so few people actually think this is an official dub (that and the voice acting here is so ungodly and awful).
Well, I guess you worked pretty hard to accomplish this, but the voices just don't fit to the charakters at all. Natsu should have an a little more boy-ish voice, he almost sounds like goku! And Happy's voice is just too high-pitched. You could think he's a girl! Maybe you could swap Bora's and Natsu's voice if you don't have anything else. Still, this dub is way better than a lot of other dubs I've seen.
@MrAyeSir This is not a fandub. This is an official dub. It is the Animax Asia dub. It only aired in Asian countries. It never aired in America. And if it's better than other dubs, it just doesn't exceed the Funimation dub.
You may not like Happy's voice in that dub, but trust me, Natsu and Bora practically do sound like they swap voices, and then some; Todd Haberkorn makes Natsu sound like the youthful, passionate, goofy guy Natsu is, and Ian Sinclair makes Bora sound like a smarmy bachelor.

Gotta say, this is a good dub, even if some of the voices seem totally wrong for the characters after watching the Japanese version for so long. It could just be that they're new at voice acting. It could improve as the series goes on,so I'll give it a chance. I love the series no matter what the characters sound like anyway XD

@SSJavenger Because the Funimation dub actually makes some jokes funnier. The Japanese version may have better actors, but I for one got the same amount of entertainment value from the first 24 episodes of the Funimation dub as I did the whole first season in Japanese.

@SSJavenger That said, if people don't like dubs, they could at least support Funi's licensing of Fairy Tail. So what if they've only got season one? They can get more with support. You think everyone is just gonna look on websites where episodes are uploaded illegally? Just look at Funi's upload of the first episode and see how many people are freaking out about Rave Master's Plue being in the OP (I know it's cuz FT and RM are made by the same guy). Fairy Tail deserves this much.

@immblueversion Well yeah but i find it silly people fighting over dubs when Japan dub clearly sounds better and gives you the better feel when watching it and if you know where to search you can find episodes at 720p with your own language at subs at those illegal sites i download animes from takafansubs animeclipse and animegreek 720p Greek subs so i am satisfied,but i agree that we must support anime/manga creators and funi has some good dubs that deserve support

@Xenomorph1112 But unlike a dub from Microsoft Sam, a dub of Fairy Tail done by Funimation actually exists. It's 24 episodes in (but only four are on YouTube) and, while not to the standards of the Japanese version (save episode 19, which I actually think sounds better in the Funi dub), is pretty damn good. ESPECIALLY Erza.
I'm honestly surprised this video was the first thing that came up when I searched "Fairy Tail English" while the first episode of the Funi dub came second.

@Xenomorph1112 Then again, it would seem you're already familiar with the Funi dub. And as one who's all caught up with the anime, I find that the Funi dub gives me more to look forward to. I'm especially looking forward to episode 25, where Juvia meets Gray and shit gets real (yeah, Juvia's my favorite character). Her voice in episode 21 was very fitting for her character at the time, but it just couldn't satisfy me since that's not the aspect of her persona that I like the most.

I'm so glad I'm already a fan of this show. Because if I had just seen this for the first time with this horrible dub I would have hated it. The dubs are so bad , it's almost like they're making fun of the whole series. I suggest you watch it in Japanese with the English subs. The voice talent really makes ah BIG difference.

@tealandturquoise Well, this is actually one of TWO dubs. The other one is done by Funimation. And believe me, that one is one of the best damn dubs I have ever heard, and has the virtue of getting even better over time. There are currently 24 episodes dubbed by Funi available (but only the first four are on YouTube as of now). Trust me, even if you don't like dubs, it's at least better than this crap.

@DerfPet1 It's not the sounds of their voices, it's the delivery of their lines. The Animax voice actors are wooden, the translations range from awkward to beyond stupid (Lucy says she wants to be a wizard when she grows up when she already kind of IS a wizard, not to mention she's freakin' 17 yeas old), and it sounds like it was done in one go. All in all, it sounds amateur; there's a reason why people think this is a fandub and not an official dub.

There's a scene where the fake Salamander states Lucy's name is Lucy Heartfilia, meaning Lucy told him her full name. But we all know that she doesn't want Fairy Tail to find out her identity, so she hid her last name from them. So why'd Lucy reveal her full name to someone she thinks is part of Fairy Tail, especially when she wants to join them? It's a huge contradiction and proves how little Animax cares.

@DerfPet1 Actually, I like the Funimation dub better (yeah, I have seen enough episodes of both dubs to compare). The Animax dub is seriously lacking in the voice-acting-ability department and also suffers from a poorly-written script, which in some cases, doesn't make any sense (gotta love that "weirdo convention" line from episode 11). Let's not forget that some characters in the Animax version sound totally ridiculous (like Makarov, for instance)...

@WeloveVK The other one sounds like it's done by people who actually care about Fairy Tail. In fact, they'd like to dub the second season if the first season makes them enough money.
In the case of this dub, Animax stopped bothering with it after the first season and just switched to airing it in Japanese. But it only airs in Asia, so there's a reason so few people actually think this is an official dub (that and the voice acting here is so ungodly and awful).

Well, I guess you worked pretty hard to accomplish this, but the voices just don't fit to the charakters at all. Natsu should have an a little more boy-ish voice, he almost sounds like goku! And Happy's voice is just too high-pitched. You could think he's a girl! Maybe you could swap Bora's and Natsu's voice if you don't have anything else. Still, this dub is way better than a lot of other dubs I've seen.

@MrAyeSir This is not a fandub. This is an official dub. It is the Animax Asia dub. It only aired in Asian countries. It never aired in America. And if it's better than other dubs, it just doesn't exceed the Funimation dub.
You may not like Happy's voice in that dub, but trust me, Natsu and Bora practically do sound like they swap voices, and then some; Todd Haberkorn makes Natsu sound like the youthful, passionate, goofy guy Natsu is, and Ian Sinclair makes Bora sound like a smarmy bachelor.

Gotta say, this is a good dub, even if some of the voices seem totally wrong for the characters after watching the Japanese version for so long. It could just be that they're new at voice acting. It could improve as the series goes on,so I'll give it a chance. I love the series no matter what the characters sound like anyway XD
