I am not sure how this would work on a "traditional" English concertina. The hand strap, the hand rest and the thumb strap that eventually went off, were part of my design concept when I built the instrument. Also note that the horizontal button spacing is wider.
The whole concept was tried out by modifying a Stagi Miniature (18 buttons) until it felt good.
All can be seen on my web site, which is gone temporarily - it will be up again soon; I'll send you a message, when it is ready.
Now that I listen to it, I have to make an excuse for the sound - it's the auto-gain in the Canon camera that compresses so much that it ends up sounding like a tenor banjo...
Is that an additional strap you have attached over your hand there? How do you like that?

The anglo-like hand strap was the whole point. The clip is 2 years old - today, the THUMB STRAP HAS GONE = freedom!
The hand strap gives me the control and the power to pull (and push) that I can't get with a "traditional" English concertina.
The tune here is played - on purpose - at high volume, to demonstrate the non-English abilities ;-)

@handstrapz
I can see and hear the benefits. How might one go about making such a modification?

Ah, the duet brothers!
Glad you like it!

VERY NICE! And you built the concertina yourself? How does one learn to do that? I'd like to give it a try myself IF I had a clue...
Thanks!!!

Yes, I designed it that way.
That was early last year - now it's even worse: the thumbstraps are gone! ;-)
