  • DUDE THIS IS SOOOOOO TRU!!!!!!!!!

  • I'd rather drink from a plastic bottle and not get fluoride.

  • Wow this video is sooooooo BORING!! Who would watch this?? oh yeah i kno, STUPID KIDS!! Just Kidding ok bye peeps.

  • I hate bottled water, it tastes like shit

  • Funny story about Cleveland; corporations can be pretty douchee. Put a filter on ur tap to pull out city's poisons & ur good to go. But is it wrong to recycle bottles to make other plastic stuff that we need or want? I love seeing that poor family in India getting hurt by our greed & consumerism, very subtle. Nothing like producing more brain-washing socialist propaganda disguised as environmentalism! Let's all talk about it on our iphones & send emails to our puters thru intraweb on drive home.

  • I'm never buying bottled water again. I'll bring my own bottle 'round.

  • Why don't people just BOIL Tap water if they are unsure of their purity!!....boiling kills all germs!!!

  • @usmanabb boiling doesn't "kill" harmful pollutants. It can't kill floride or chlorine.

  • Thought provoking video. If you live in US and are genuinely concerned about tap water quality, then I am doing my part to solve the problem.

  • Superb!!

  • How did this get 4 dislikes?

  • @TunaNinjaz

Four bottled water company employees. :)

  • @StukovM1g True. :D

  • @TunaNinjaz 1) Annie Leonard has a reputation for being very dishonest in her videos. 2) She is flaming example of what she decries "manufactured demand." There isn't a problem with bottled water, people love it and we can recycle 100% of water bottles. The problem is not enough people are donationg to her and her cause, thus she had to drum up support. She is literaly; "Scaring Us. Seducing Us. Misleading Us." 3) She's worng. The numbers flat out show: people are choosing bottled water.

  • @0HippyHunter0 shutup troll

  • @Edin2423 Aren't you trolling with your little comment?

  • I just take my four-gallon jug to one of those "purified water" stores and pay about 20 cents/gallon, which will last me about a week for my girlfriend and me.

Way cheaper than paying $1/gallon or buying a 12-pack of bottled water for $10-15. The only real cost to me is driving to the store (which is right down the road) and the few minutes it takes to get there.

  • i always drink tap or tap water purified by water purifiers unless i cant find it

  • i have a cuz who lives down south..u can set her water on fire

ust take a lighter in whooos.... i take the bottle

  • In Denmark we recycle all bottles many, many times. I don't understand how other countries can have another system. It doesn't make sense.

  • @klarolivia its fairly simple. Denmark is the size of a large dog turd, so getting your recycling to be efficient within the country is very easy; population density there far exceeds some regions of the United States. To have people in say, Wyoming (where population density is 5.4 persons per square mile) recycle their bottles would cost more energy to ship them out empty then ship them in full again. It won't work. On top of that, it is wildly expensive.

  • hey this is just like how they over exagerated weed and tobacco

  • i iive in georgia and our water isn't very clean cancer rates have increased 22% in the last 3 years i like the idea of investing more in water infrastructure

  • @whatintheworld91 Your statistic is complete nonsense. It's made up, entirely. The CDC has recorded a straight drop in cancer rates, and increase in survival rates, across the entire nation. Georgia has a lower incidence of cancer than the average for the rest of the country. This information is readily available on Georgia's Department of Public Health website. National statistics showing a dramatic improvement in cancer rates can be found at cancer do t gov. You won't look, ignorance is easy.

  • hey guyz, iam from chennai, india. i used to live in the backyard of the exact spot called perungudi which is on the outskirts of chennai where everything is dumped as she mentions. but, now i changed and moved to another place and when i recently visited that place, perungudi again. it has become really worst, people living nearby cant even breathe and other related industries near that dumping yard are dumping their wastes without any regulations. even our govt doesnt care anymore about those.

  • Its Gr8 Study

  • Seems like the three dislikes are by the representatives of the "'Bottled Water Industry". lol......

  • 3 people hate the Earth.

  • no no no no no. you cant boycott bottled water. what you can do is reduce the sales but not boycott. some people just dont like the taste of tap water, so we buy bottled water.

what you can also do is reuse the bottles. and fill it with flitered tap water.

  • @smashy7377

Refilling your bottled water isn't exactly healthy. I don't know the exact story around it (something about carcinogens), but you should look into it. Take care of youself, please :(

  • @Music2miEars1 Thats nonsense. There are no carcinogens seeping into your water from your plastic bottle. That has been disproven.

  • @0HippyHunter0

Oh, I'm not sure about the carcinogen stuff, but is it alright to keep reusing the same plastic water bottle?

  • @Music2miEars1 Yes. There was a big 'scare' about dioxins coming from water bottles. It was later proven that water bottles cannot transfer enough dioxins to put them on the scale of dangerous or even something to be considered. The entire thing was a hoax predicated on worthless science. It was said that the floaties in water when you freeze water bottles were pieces of plactic that caused cancer. This is nonsense. It's the minerals in hard water. Do it with distilled and you wont have that.

  • nalgene fo LYFE

  • Good one, It's 100% clean in Sri Lanka, Do not pay high prices for bottled water, let it be dining at a five star or small restaurant in Sri Lanka, you can be sure of drinking Tap water, however make sure to check the cleanness of the Cup. :-)

  • 3 people are in the water industry

  • First of all there should not be any disposal and secondly it should not be India......

  • good one ...... hats off.....

  • Stop Shoving this down our throat tell this to the government !!!!!

  • Once we put the empty bottle into a bottle recycling bin, we tell ourself that we've done the environment justice. In north america, we're spoil, we continue to ignore environmental concerns even when media exposure for these global warming events are becoming more frequent in news and journals.

Every little bit counts, every small change makes a different.

Starting today, I choose to consciously choose my water source carefully..

  • @azncrawlerutube Global Warming is getting more coverage as it's getting closer to being entirely debunked. It is horseshit. "We're spoil"? WTF are you talking about? Americans are some of the most enviromentally concious people on Earth. You want to see dont-give-a-shit about the environment? Go to Western Sudan. They couldn't care less what Earth looks like. The US recycles more than any other country. They also have more renewable energy. Stop being stupid.

  • @0HippyHunter0 Have you ever wondered how many of the recycle bottles land up in the recycling plant, versus landfills Thanks for proving my point

  • @azncrawlerutube I have no idea what you are talking about. Your "counterpoint" doesn't nothing to prove your point. It is a flat out lie to say Americans ignore the environment, they are, by the numbers, the most environmentally friendly country in the world. I do wonder, and I don't care. That plactic will be there in 10 years for us to recycle when we get to it.

  • @0HippyHunter0 I don't denied America is an environmentally friendly country. I am aware the fact that America tries to do its deed for the environment. However, it's still a huge country producing a huge amount of waste. Does the environmental measures put in place justify the waste produced? At the end, it doesn't matter if you approve my point or not, because we can argue this all day. You can search up "Pollution municipal waste per capita statistics"

  • @azncrawlerutube I couldn't care less what pollution per capita is. The fact is this: doom has been predicted for as long as predicting has been done. The US handles their pollution much better than other countries. Not only that, its getting significantly better year after year. On top of that, we showing other countries how to make efficiency profitable. Our technologies are filtering into all other countries. The doom is way overstated.

  • Well done. Good presentation of the information in both animation and voice. Thank you for creating this.

  • Wat if theres some storm and the sink broke

  • im sure the three people who disliked this video are employees of a bottled water company :-)

  • @teiskhemlynrah true :p

  • we are late in getting awareness about this. it is more than time to wake up!

  • The only good thing about bottled water? Being able to buy it only when you're really thirsty and forgot to bring your own.

  • I enjoyed several of your fun filled facts and video. However, I can personally assure you that while water in the great USA is good. Water in other nations is very poor and bottled water supply is escential. We only require a better regulation on water filter and locations of public utilities in order to help the demand. I agree the plastic bottles themselves need to go. Maybe a service simular to the old milk man could be employed to refill containers and eliminate the excess waste.

  • In India this would look like another scam especially the amount plastic water bottles purchased by the public sector organisations. !!

  • Excellent video ! i have decided to stop buying water cans/bottles after seeing this !

  • My country is the dump of USA, no wonder I hate you Uncle Sam

  • interesting topic.but hate her voice...

  • I never knew water had diffrent tastes.

  • Great Creative work .. creativity + Activism = Social Awareness

  • I am glad some one finaly made a video like this because bottled water is really disgusting because it tate like plastic : (

  • Is it true that tap water in America has fluoride added to it which is health consequences if ingested. I mean what I have read is that if your tooth paste has it , its okay cause you will spit it out but it poisons your body if taken in.

  • India and its people need to wake up and stand up for themselves, we are a proud bunch of people, proud about our glorious past but I feel ashamed to say that we certainly lack the will or the commitment to build a country which is looked upon by other countries, China and its people are doing that, I hope we do too.

  • never really liked bottled water

  • This made me Thirsty for tap water xD

  • I didn't know India is being used as dumping ground :(

  • What about the soft drinks such as Coke and Pepsi? They are equally use less products sold through manufactured demand. It is time to stop this American non-sense and go for the natural way of living.

  • i totally looked her tits all the video

  • What'smost important is the last 2 minutes where she's telling us what we can do

  • So what are you doing to change this?

  • Im not interested in bottled water problem, im more interested in getting a job to eat.

  • Seriously, I could charge ppl for fresh air, just because i live beside a mountain. Goddam it guys. water is water.Period.

  • I wish tap water could also be fizzy...

  • Maybe I shouldn't drink fizzy water even though it's yummy!

  • This is awesome.

  • u r tru

  • I never buy bottled water I always use filtered tap water. I buy bottled water about once or twice a year and its used for hunting season and camp.

  • my one problem with all of this is that they don't offer any feasible soultions. How many people are honestly going to lobbying congressmen for water fountains, or just outright boycott bottled water form schools? people are too lazy for that. Plus, I don't know who was in that taste test, but for me, bottled water tastes better than tap any day of the week.

  • @TheBossman9001 I have well water at all three of my houses and that's what I grew up with. Bottled water to me, tastes...Dry. I don't know how to explain it, but it's dry and bland.

  • @ParkTrotPlease i wish i had well water. Genuine natural is always better.

  • @TheBossman9001 It is. Unless you're near sulfur. Our farm is on gravel, and after it get softened, it's kind of "meh" so we have a Brita filter on it. It's actually better at the barn straight out of the ground with no filtration what so ever. My other house is on limestone which is excellent. So it just depends where you are I guess. But even the worse waters can be pretty good when ran through an on the tap charchol filter. :)

  • Tap water an't clean. Its full of chems.

  • DANG! im sharing this on fb

  • Great vid!!!! thanks!!! =)

  • OMG why do you make thế boring projects about things you cant change ??

  • @WideLegoWorld Why boring?

  • Tap water in mexico gives you the runs.

  • Have you tasted Tobago tap water uughhh

  • estupendo!!!!

  • I still don't understand why more people don't recycle. Bottling water wouldn't necessarily be any better, but it would at least help the disposal process.

  • The two people who disliked this video are Nestle and Aquafina ;)

  • this vid should have 7 billion views.

  • it polutes the planet to recycle too. it takes gas to remake bottles and thats polluting.

  • @lizorlizzie why not just..you know...clean the bottle xD

  • Every one of you seeing this video, make sure you pass on the message, and start with your homes first...Get rid of those bottles!

  • We live in world of 'manufactured demand', scare, seduce or fool the consume, but don't let him go. That's the mantra for perfumes/body sprays, shampoos and toothpaste and many more things. But people are smarter.

  • Drinking bottled water is becoming as unpopular as smoking while pregnant....

ehhh no. Who's trying to scare who? Everyone xD

  • I'm from Mumbai, India, and Aquafina, claims they contributed 2 million gallons of water, back to the environment. Bullshit. They are degrading the environment, and using Madras' landfills ! It's time humans become human again. In India, tap water is bad, so, what do you think we use ? We use filters, and they taste better than Aquafina, or Bisleri, or Qua.

  • This is very enlightening but being a person residing in India, here's the truth

Tap water(what we get here) is not exactly potable. It tastes of chlorine&other chemicals,so naturally, people tend to buy bottled water,or water in large cans for household consumption.Bottled water should be highly regulated , but it must not be banned altogether! There are a few brands which claim to provide mountain water, such brands must be done away with! Such water not only tastes bad ,but may also be unhealthy!

  • Yes, that's a good thing from US perspective.... But what about the dumping ground, India?

Clean water in India is still an unknown concept for 80% Indians... Thanks to the Italian Govt. heading India!

  • @Metechie Not really!! Its high time for US to lead everything everywhere....Obama's speech won't help anymore. Mind me when i say that my grand kids may go to US to just poop. :P

  • what they dump it in my country i ill kick their butts

  • Shya. Why does every alternate conspiracy has to be connected to India. :P

  • @johnvit12 because india and china will probably be in the news everyday in a couple of years due to this kind of shit.

  • one person dislike must come from bottled factory

  • Because we are willing to accept it and its cheap.

  • How come this amazing video has only 39000 views. We should spread the word. Its a real eye opener. Post it. Tweet it. Forward it, mates.

  • Y DO DEY HV TO DUMP IT IN MY COUNTRY :X

  • Disgusting. The city Madras (Chennai) mentioned here also happens to be the hometown of the Pepsi/Aquafina Chairperson - Indra Nooyi.

  • awesome presentation......thanks for the research....

  • I got rid of bottled water 6 months ago itself. Even in my company they stopped providing bottled water and told us to use tap water instead. Many people did not like it at that time but that was really a good step. It does not matter to me what was the actual reason behind that change.

  • thanks for the efforts put in by you all, in making the video and showing the ugly reality in such a creative/interesting/short n sweet way.

  • thanks for the efforts put in by you all, in making the video and taking the init

  • now heres the real irony about the video. We Indians dont buy bottled water until we have to drink water outside. yet all the garbage gets dumped here. Its pretty easy you know, all you have to do is come here and pay the ruling party a little bribe to dump those bottles in anyone's backyard you like. I dont know why i was even born here.

  • good to see a video explaining the issue very clearly ... i stopped buying bottled water few years back ... in case you are not comfortable drinking tap water directly, you can use a purifier which would result in probably safer water than the bottled water ... making an effort to reduce the use of plastic in all areas is one of the first steps we (society) should take ... if you go to the supermarket, carry a couple of cloth bags along to bring back the goods instead of using plastic covers ...

  • I decided NOT to use bottled water from now on. JOIN ME!

  • I just use a refillable bottle... one that was originally a disposable single-use store-bought bottle of water. I don't like the bottled water industry, but I find the clear plastic bottles themselves are actually quite good - lightweight, easy to refill, non-leaky. They're less likely to attract attention than a big Nalgene or SIGG camping bottle if you pull it out in a cafeteria with signs saying "no outside food or drinks".

  • @gbeauregard You want to be careful how often you do that with your bottle, though. There have been reports and concerns about the plastics leaching into the water, especially over longer term use.

  • @uconndirk I've heard about those reports, but if they were true, presumably whatever leaches into the tap water I fill my bottle with would also leach into the factory-bottled water at exactly the same rate. I've never heard of anyone checking expiry dates for bottled water - presumably it sits on ships & shelves for weeks. So if there are health risks in reusing plastic water bottles, those same risks apply to the original factory-packaged water!

  • fuck bottled water ... i got a Water Filter for 10 € and they are too for the price working a month or two or a bit more ... ^^ depends on your thrist AY .... ^^

  • This is true and everyone knew it. You don't have to wait until the end of the world or sth like that to stop doing what you know you are not supposed to do.

  • everytime you drink from the tap, you save a bunny :-)

like and sub if you agree

  • @Sparky96js fluoride is not your friend.

  • @borisbmx Wat's fluoride? :-P

  • Good luck with that.

  • in some countries you cant just drink tap water, and i'm not talking about siera leone or something...

  • @fenix611 They did mention that...

  • I think this where the idea of 2012 came from.

  • @SuperTortoisedude

Or you know, maybe the idea of 2012 came from the whole mayan calendar ending...lol

    google it

  • I agree with this but plastic doesn't affect gas production, plastic is a by-product of oil refining, people will run out of bottles and gas at the same time. Fluoride is in tap water. Lobby those officials to remove the hexafluorosilicic acid from the tap water.

  • This was really informative! Though, I think you should include some more info like what we can be doing to help! You said boycotting and things such as that, but I think you should really emphasize reusable water bottles. For-say, you don't always have access to the tap, so what do you do? Get a water bottle (plastic) when you should just get a reusable one and have water 24/7 without buying the plastic waste ones.

  • Hypocrite.....

  • i was most surprised when she said soda was bad!

i mean relay people if 26g of shugar is bad then i hrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggg

  • What about FLUORIDE???? There's no way I'll drink tap water unless I know it does not contain fluoride.

  • @cmeneliel Right on! Move to the few cities where fluoride isn't in the water!

  • @cmeneliel You can always buy a water distiller or something similar

  • @RysiekKrzysiek2021 no... the planet will still be here... were only killing ourselves...not my words gorge Carlin's

  • this was amazing i ddint no recycling wasn't recycling

  • @cooldude89012 This video is based on a biased view. Recycling is processing used materials into usable materials. It's not "downcycling" because it's not the same product. The video said that 80% of bottles end up in landfills which means even if they made all the bottles back into bottles most of them would end up there anyway. Of course the stuff they can't recycle is going to get thrown out. What else are they going to do with it?
