@refused215 It's not illegal to sit outside of a Air Force base and film airplanes coming in for a landing here in the US. Local cops may drop by to see what your doing if you sit there long enough, but as long as your out of the way and not bothering anyone it's perfectly fine. USAF Security Police know where people always sit and watch the planes and they can watch you from a distance without much fuss.
I spotted today a very peculiar airplane that happend to look like a U2 but with twin rotor engines, it was overflying Mexico City it gave several turns, the civilian traffic was diverted, I could observe it. Do you happen to know what kind of reconaissance airplanes do the Mexican Air Force has? Wikipedia lists the Beechcraft King Air 90 but it doesn't look like the airplane I saw, I took video and I'm preparing it for Youtube.
the u-2 is very loud when it is at 100% throttle climbing. i work at beale as a crew chief and we do 100% engine runs standing 10 feet from the jet with ear plugs and headsets on and it's still almost unbearable. this jet is not taken seriously by many because it's not a fighter, but it's reconnaisance capability is awesome.
As a recon plane it's brilliant - not sure if any current plane can intercept it? I know one was intercepted a long time ago in an exercise by a Lightning @ 88,000 ft but the Lightning is British and is no longer operational.
oh yeah wene your 150 yards away and they do a maximum performance climb to the edge they are, take my wor for it they never give airshows a good demo for some reason
yes they are pretty loud, i live 15 miles from beale afb and i see them all the time. if you heard one do a max performance takeofff you would say they are loud.
Some people say they are very loud. Had one come to my local airshow about 10 years ago and I didn't think it was that loud. In fact, on one pass it made it was completely silent. I wish now that I had listened to the announcer tell us how exactly it did that. I'd say it's louder than the B-2 stealth, but nowhere near the B1 lancer or a B-52.
how bout not sitting outside the base filming, u can have cops called on u

Despite our advanced spy satellites, stealth aircraft and UAVs, we still fly this thing.

U2 is loud? .....U2 is VERY VERY VERY loud!

u-2s are very loud for a plane with no afterburners, they are not as loud as the sr-71 or f-15 , but they are about as loud as f-22.
