Why did they close that place? I have only ever been their once when I was very young, same thing seems to have happened to old Scarborough holiday camp on top of the hill (Scalby Mills Road) used to be a old army camps it's kind of upsetting that they close cause I had some fond memories as I'm sure many others did
I wonder if there is anyone who actually thinks the camp is better now than it was as Butlin's, or even anyone who thinks it's even nearly as good as it used to be? If anyone does think so then one thing is for certain - they NEVER had a holiday at Butlin's Pwllheli.
Wow! We must have seen each other, I´m sure. I also was working to Mr. Kelly (Red Camp) and his daughter btw had just been teaching english in Finland at the same school where my cousins`mother was. Small world!
Brings back only happy memories from that time I was working as a chalet maid 1969.
Thank you so much for giving me relive for a moment in these memories!!!! If you A.G.W (a red one) see this, please, contact. Greetings from Finland! (Ulla)
@dandelion4554 I worked as an accommodation porter for Mr Kelly in 1968 & 69, i was the one who rode the little truck with all the trailers on the back ! Fantastic times, fantastic women :)
Brings back memories, some bitter, some very very sweet. Worked here summer of 1968. Turned 21 during my stint here, got gloriously drunk (frequently) and fell madly in love with a beautiful older woman (she was 28) who taught me the finer points of lovemaking and drinking scotch! A wonderful rite of passage that I'll remember forever.
love this video thanx for sharing it and letting me relive some wonderfull memories of visiting butlins every year with my parents whilst growing up.... cheers
Its called Hafan y Mor Holiday Park. Its nothing like the old Butlins. They have pulled most of the chalets down and other building down and replaced them with static caravans. Train and Chairlift gone to name just a couple of things.
great photos and memories, like a lo of scousers we used to go there, ended up in pwhelli nick onr night, a bit younger and daft, but loved it, my mate met his wife there from derby,do you know what it is now.
so many happy memories of being a kid butlins pwllheli, think we went every year in the 80's....such a shame to see that it's no longer the holiday camp it used to be, thanks for putting these on
