SAF should have two sets of uniform, green one for jungle warfare and brown one for dessert warfare. Imagine fighting a war in a dessert wearing a green uniform, the enemy will be laughing their ass off.

They should really foucus more on equipment camo. Even the best camouflaged person in a good position can still have his position spoted because of a poorly camoflaged weapon and/or gear. Back in Vietnam Maj John L. Plaster said that he and the guys in his platoon didn't even hesitate to spray paint (green) their solid black M 16's. Just a little color to break up the outline of a solid black rifle or any solid black tacticle equipment for that matter can really ensure you stay hidden.

@shaunmcwilliam Well at the time we had no desert camo pattern since we had never been deployed to one before. So we had to quickly make a new arid pattern cadpat to fill the gap. It's only a uniform colour but it makes a hell of a difference.

The digital camo was actually developed by the Canadian military, actually it's air force, which I find humourous. It was also a joint project with the US Marines. I first started wearing this pattern, CADPAT, in the mid-90's but it's developmental stages had started 10 yrs prior. I find it really effective, and with the material it's made from, I can't see someone in it using my NVG's. Until you turn on the IR flashlight, then you're screwed lol.

My one experience with this camo in action in civilian life was driving my car... then noticing a pair of black boots appearing on the road at the zebra crossing. Some guy in the new uniform was crossing the road... but I couldn't see him; his upper body blended too well with the greenery behind him. Lucky I hit the brakes in time.

SAF own Marpat. What is difference between SAF Marpat to USMC Woodland Marpats. SAF Marpat doesn't had brown. The green is much lighter than Dark Green on US Woodland Marpat. I would rather used SAF Marpat the USMC Woodland Marpat. SAF Marpat match the jungle environment.
Reminds me of our CADPAT. Dempending of the surrounding forestry the best camouflage will vary, but I stick with 'vietnam tigerstripe,' 'flecktarn,' and the chinese 'partizan desert flecktarn.' 'Klasska "blot" russian winter camouflage works great too.

It does until you look through a thermal scope and see all the white objects to hit. These guys should be using thermal scopes even during daytime. It negates camo patterns, even the ghillie suit.
ironmaidenkid455, Military sights use two tone such as black and white or light green and dark green. That's why gun camera footage from the Apaches on youtube are in black and white. Either something is a potential target or it's not. Scientist use instuments to see different temperatures at the same time, but it is an illusion since humans can't see the heat, just a computer representation.
Since there are thermal images of people all over youtube including those military related, it's not hard to see why at least the U.S. targeting on its equipment uses thermal imaging even during the day. The 3 lbs IRWS1000 IR rifle scope lasts 9hours per battery and can spot a human from 690-1,000 meters depending on the configuration. That's just one model.
This has to be the best cam l have seen for jungle environments

SAF own Marpat. What is difference between SAF Marpat to USMC Woodland Marpats. SAF Marpat doesn't had brown. The green is much lighter than Dark Green on US Woodland Marpat. I would rather used SAF Marpat the USMC Woodland Marpat. SAF Marpat match the jungle environment.

Reminds me of our CADPAT. Dempending of the surrounding forestry the best camouflage will vary, but I stick with 'vietnam tigerstripe,' 'flecktarn,' and the chinese 'partizan desert flecktarn.' 'Klasska "blot" russian winter camouflage works great too.

for camouflage you need a color of the exposed places, not cover spots that shall conceal you completely like a wall trench or bush. but something like a forest floor & MOSTLY a field (hence field grayish colors are best) SAF error is black boots & other black stuff, equipment for combat should be field gray/khaki ive studied my colors & uniforms plus i use them & trust them! cause i design uniforms, not like USA ACU which is designed by a department of defense AI computer!▐▐▐

i am a master of military uniforms!, the best camouflage is a single color a mix of "the ambience color" with gray/field gray, cause it is a perfect inbetween color with no extreme, most objects in nature are no too dark or bright, same must be with camouflage, neutral colors is best, i have a design of multi color camouflage i shall not reveal, but the best designs of multi color come from people who go to the places▐▐▐

It does until you look through a thermal scope and see all the white objects to hit. These guys should be using thermal scopes even during daytime. It negates camo patterns, even the ghillie suit.

Either something is a potential target or it's not. Scientist use instuments to see different temperatures at the same time, but it is an illusion since humans can't see the heat, just a computer representation.

Since there are thermal images of people all over youtube including those military related, it's not hard to see why at least the U.S. targeting on its equipment uses thermal imaging even during the day. The 3 lbs IRWS1000 IR rifle scope lasts 9hours per battery and can spot a human from 690-1,000 meters depending on the configuration. That's just one model.
