I've noticed since I was a kid that a lot of reporters, anchors and "pundits" on TV often act as unofficial PR agents or spokespersons for various corporate entities or corporate interests in key economic and political interests. Back in 2003 when I visited Europe (specifically Germany, Italy and Greece) I was SHOCKED at how informative, up-front and neutral the news was there compared to American news. It also seem to avoid sensationalism, just the facts. Most Americans would find it "boring".

I noticed in the 90s these "pundits" in the US media and even anchors tell stories from their own personal opinion. Basically subliminally telling you the audience what you should think and what your opinion should be.
We don't have reporters in America, we have commentators. CNN Headline News seems to be the closest thing to a straight news network on TV. And even they seem to add alot of personal opinions. I don't want to hear nobodies opinions, just feed me straight facts, I can think for myself.
And these same commentators, specifically the ones who advertise themselves as reporters, they could add in personal opinion but not admit that it's their own. for instance, he/she could frame a question like "some might say" or "society expect's" and it would be that easy

Cost should not be the determining factor in the government's decisions. Cost can be an issue, but not the determining issue. "Should we go to war to defend our allies? Well, no, because it would cost too much money." It costs the government a heck of a lot more because people are not insured. I'm sure you have a car, you probably have insurance on that car, why? Because if you got into an accident without insurance it would cost you a heck of a lot more than if you paid the monthly premium

#1 Obviously illegal aliens, being illegal, won't be eligible for government health plans. But they would also not be turned away in emergency rooms for humanitarian reasons, so that would not change from the current situation.
#2 No one is giving away any money. The current plan is NOT tax-funded.
#3 The constitution also doesn't mention fire-fighters. Does that mean "giving away" fire-protection is unconstitutional?

Turns out the Representative I talked to could not comment on whether Nelson was for or against "more time". Also, she said she doesn't know whether Nelson has received money from private insurance companies. When I asked whether his motives would be questionable if it were true that he received money and asked for more time, she quickly said no, of course Nelson has the interests of Floridians in mind.

Actually the BBC is one of the newspapers thats extremely critical of Britain. They only mentioned to the 17 year old American kid, that theres a British guy attempting to break his record, not that the guys broken it already.
Every news channel is slightly biased, its in human nature, but BBC is far more informative and critically reviews information far better than any news channel in the US. Im not saying this out of patriotic bias, as Im not originally British anyway. But to each their own

No surprise there. Jon Stewart, TYT, Colbert Report, Huffington Post, and other non-traditional news sources are trusted more. U.S. News stations really screwed themselves during the Bush years.

I spent several years working in local TV news. The people you see on TV for the most part aren't "journalists" they are "news actors".
The management worry more about ratings and ad revenue than they do about journalistic credibility. And most of the management are idiots.
To use the old restaurant analogy, they focus on selling the sizzle, not the steak.
Keith Olbermann, Rachel Madow & Chris Matthews are some of the only real news sources left on TV.

I've noticed since I was a kid that a lot of reporters, anchors and "pundits" on TV often act as unofficial PR agents or spokespersons for various corporate entities or corporate interests in key economic and political interests. Back in 2003 when I visited Europe (specifically Germany, Italy and Greece) I was SHOCKED at how informative, up-front and neutral the news was there compared to American news. It also seem to avoid sensationalism, just the facts. Most Americans would find it "boring".

Yeah, that is a novel idea, lol. A lot of the media in Europe seemed to have the format that American news had in the old Edward Murrow and Walter Cronkite days. Just the facts, anchors and reporters taking themselves out of the story and just being messengers.
I noticed in the 90s these "pundits" in the US media and even anchors tell stories from their own personal opinion. Basically subliminally telling you the audience what you should think and what your opinion should be.
