On the block where I live in Santa Clarita, CA, Scientology has paid off a would be minister to do their diry work here. I will give anyone interested his name and address. We are under the jurisdiction of the Los Angeles County, California Sheriff Dept. I believe Sheriff Lee Baca has been blackmailed into supporting Scientology. Question: How does one reconcile with the fact that some of his favorite movies have one of these cultist in them? The fact that these people use their celebrity status to recruit victims is appalling to me and I do not wish to support them by watching their movies and help further their carriers. But when the cases were actually taken to court they costed the church over 1 billion dollars in settlements.

We are under the jurisdiction of the Los Angeles County, California Sheriff Dept. I believe Sheriff Lee Baca has been blackmailed into supporting Scientology. I think that it has something to do with his friendship with the father of that cocaine dealer that Clinton pardoned right before he left office in January, 2001.

If a bunch of guys with masks appeared outside Catholic churches protesting against the child abuse cases and the enforced celibacy and all that, no one will doubt that it was bigotry and the Church would look victimized. But when the cases were actually taken to court they costed the church over 1 billion dollars in settlements.
These attacks make the COS appear as the victim. If you have real evidence, go to court,use the legal system, Otherwise is just free publicity and it benefits the COS.

But that is the problem. Scientology spends a lot of money on it's legal team. Pretty much any attempt at a true legal effort is going to fail and fail badly due to lack of proof that is is the church that is doing these things such as making people who are critics of it the subject of slander and even going to the lows of calling friends, pretending to be police and "Inquiring" about some suspicious activity to do with them. Protesting & letters are the best way of getting it out into the open.

also: is anyone familiar with the novel "the wave"? its about an after-school activity that turns into a fascist social movement. if anonymous were a real organization, it would be a potentially dangerous. as one can see, people tend to follow and imitate them without being critical of the apparent flaws in the idea. what if anonymous decides that jews are second in line to being bad cult? what if people begin attacking and harming others in the name of anonymous?

Many of us have done our own research into Scientology. I've had a look both pro Scientology websites. Which blatantly ignore them and even cause anonymous to be looked upon as a cult. How Ironic. Like many of us, I am not against the Religious beliefs side of Scientology but are against the side where they mistreat parishioners and force them to pay their donations.
