Thing is, the transformations actually happen near-instantaneously. They have the drawn-out sequences as stock footage to pad the episodes, rather than drag the plot out longer than it really is. It was either that, this, or longer commercial breaks. Personally, I'm glad it was this.
I have him, too. I got him as a Christmas present. Massive figure, isn't he? I love the toy but it's so big that I don't fool around with him very often.
He was a big, intricately detailed figure with an interesting (but not frustrating) transformation and very tough construction (I've never broken anything or had anything pop off), and he had lights & sound and a lot of play value to boot. He was definitely worth what my friend must have paid to get him for me! =D
Apart from play values, this version of Megatron is one in only a few of all the Megatron in all of the transformers franchise that is faithful not only to the transformation from the show he is from, but also how accurate he was designed to resemble what he looked like on TV. Its as if the real Megatron is right there in your hands.
Thumbs up to Hasbro for making the Cybertron toyline and the amazong figures it came with.
The toy line has definitely come a long way since Generation 1 in terms of matching characters with their models.
We haven't seen that completely done from the movie line, but because of how intricate the movie transformations are, it's physically impossible to get a toy that can 100% duplicate the appearance of the movie CGI model in alternate, robot forms, AND the transformation like you got in Cybertron/Galaxy Force.
Definite thumbs up to Hasbro and TakaraTomy. The toys are great!

He was one of the only few figures from The Cybertron Toyline that was well worth the price.
