im not hatin' or anything, but one thing you could try is not coming down so hard on her back when u get leg ups or even getting on from the mounting block. i had the same issue with a couple of my ponies because their previous owners would drill so hard with their seat when the got on and to jumpss. it does a lott (:

a trick to use with horses that wont stand still is everytime they try to move away walk them in a few circles and then try agian, like you were doing a few times. if he moves again walk him again. eventually he'll get bored and stop, it just takes time.

Ah yes - I know those relationship "bumps" well. My TB and I are experiencing on right now. Anyway, just my two cents on a mounting problem, although by now, you might already be 'so over it.' :) I'd try taking the saddle off, and just work on putting your arms and hands on her back. After she accepts that, try leaning against/rubbing/etc her side, and eventually she'll get used to it. Eventually, you can add the saddle to the mix, and with a little bit a patience, she'll be a pro. Good luck!

You know what might stop Maya from running away when you try to mount her? Try facing her to a gate or a fence so she cant go forward. And another way is maybe try lunging her before you ride her to get all of that "excitement" out of her. Just a tip. Good job on lily though!! (:

hmmm she may have had a bad experience when someone mounted her.. or her back could be bothering her or she may have been in pain a long time ago and someone mounted her and now she fears pain.... but I am not sure! Is she ok once your on her?
