She was an angel during the Vietnam War. I had the privilege of meeting her in 1967 at a camp deep in the Phu Yen province jungle. Had only her guitarist with her. She was very funny & inspiring. She was the real deal.
carley simon sings this song too in her "torch" album. it's one of my favorites. i must tell you martha (one of my favorite entertainers) did a beautiful rendition on the hollywood palace.
i miss all these stars of hollywood past. i grew up watching them, not just in the movies but live on tv. it's sad today's children will never appreciate them or their talent (as a young person i got to live in the hollywood area for 4 yrs).

If she had only concentrated on singing, Martha Raye would have been considered one of the greatest singers of all time. She was also a gifted comedienne and very underrated. Thanks for posting.

Martha was a talented singer and actor. Its too bad so many of her films are not on DVD.
