  • There will NEVER be another Van Halen...ever. Lets enjoy them while we can.

  • Van halen without Micheal is the same as van halen without dave or eddie ! alex doesnt count any decent drummer can play the drums ! Their new cd blows ! REASON .... without mikes background vocals it just sounds like a lame dave solo album ! without mike there is no van halen ! LOL I watched one vid and eds kid was bundled up like a down hill skier ! LOL You lame O`s so need mike ! pay up chumps !

  • @atomicplayboy4u I feel bad for Michael, but he did say he is happy without the drama, too bad it's with Spammy. I think the new CD is great, certainly better than anything they've done without DLR. We are never gonna see Mike back.

  • Man. My right nad hurt listening to Dave hit those notes. This was the kind of stuff that kept cover bands scared.

  • . F ya! First time I heard this one live. Damn.

  • it's taken me years to look back and perhaps put a finger on the unique vibe Van Halen gave off with Roth writing lyrics and I now call it cyber punk rock noir.

  • Memories of great Halen music ruined by visuals of the more extreme Roth worshippers going down on his cock. Because they are literally wannabe Roth cocksuckers. And I say that as a big early years fan.

  • @ColtraneTaylor Suck my Richard, Richard. Anytime Anywhere Huckleberry.

  • G-G-G-Gyain -OUTT!

  • Alex VH is beatin the hell out of the skins!!!!!

  • HARD ROCK BABY !!!!! Nothing better !

  • is it just me or does the beginning of this song remind you of hendrix

  • Audio quality is incredible. Some of the best I've heard from the earlier years.

  • METAL

  • Bad Ass.

  • #1 band ever

  • In the mid 70's VH owned L.A.

  • I well say this comment in engish and spanish, dutch, this era well stay with me 4ever ! Esta era bien quedarse conmigo para siempre! Van Halen y dave para siempre, la video es chido wey ! Deze tijd goed blijven mij voorgoed! Bestelwagen halen en dave voorgoed... Thanks For Sharing 5150evh5150

  • dave is the best

    THATS IT!!!

  • all multi talented bands move on and split...duh cept' for the worlds BEST...Stones..!

  • fast and crazy..wow. alex is so orig

  • Whenever Edward did that chromatic tapping lick, he would always end on the bend tap using the same interval. Ed had formulas just like Charlie Parker.

  • @DISNEYfan4Ever112 If You Think Rock Sucks, Then Why Did You Even Come Here In The First Place??? TROLL!!!

  • Who is the guitar player in this forum?

  • It's pathetic what they turned into after Dave moved on...

    Classic VH rules!

  • @Hunkola sammy only knows one word. it starts with "F"... boring!

  • @Hunkola

diamond dave = king of saturday night

    slam hagar = perpetual hangover

  • JAPAN NEEDS YOU DAVID LEE ROTH

    WHY ARE MY TEETH SHAKING

    FFUUUFFUU U U U

    turn it down

  • FUCK!!! David Lee Roth used to hit some HIGH ASS Fuckin notes singing LIVE...incredible!!!

  • Another example of the subliminal melding of a brilliant pop sensibility with hardcore metal and blues-based funk. Nobody else ever packaged shit like this... NOBODY!

  • KILLER live version. Wow.

  • great tune, but the video actually goes with Dance the night away. Sorry

  • Hey! I saw them live during this tour. In Amarillo, TX, 14 July, 1979. I am lookin at the ticket stub right now.

  • WTH? Who did this video? Music and Video don't match...I guess if you wear beer goggles, it might look like they are playing that song.

  • @duanekimball I don't think there was any proper video for this recording; it looks like he was just throwing together some random images and video to go with the audio.

  • dave's scream sounds like a chicken kkkkk its funny and awesome

  • Fucking awesome. So much energy in their shows.

  • i was ten years old in 1979. i was forced to play vh1 in the basement. there will never be a rockband that had all the components like van halen. even van halen cant sound today like they used to. NEVER going to reproduce that music again ESPECIALLY with wolfgang vh on bass. GOD HE SUCKS.

  • VH Rules

  • AWESOME track.. love the solo - when I first heard it.. totally blew mymind..!!

  • I love how he added the flanger bits in there. really cool. wish he would have done that on the album version

  • David Lee Roth ---> ULTIMATE ROCK GOD

  • I think that the only man on this planet who is the best on lead vocals for Van Halen is 'Dave Lee Roth'.

  • Man not only was Dave on but Eddie kicks total ass on this one. Lets just say they all did. Very tight for being live.

  • That was the neet thing about van halen was that they could all sing ..and sing well...very well.

  • They were the shit back in the day. If they ever go on tour again hopefully they can recapture the magic!

  • Always admire Alex's drumming in this one!

  • Wow, DLR was on.

The range of quality in his performances is staggering at times.

He can be absolutely awesome (83 South American Leg, WOW!), or absolutely brutally bad.

  • Classic song @ a classic era...

  • Killer live version!!!!! In your face you Dave haters!!! He was so awesome in his prime!!!

  • This isn't Outta love again video...this is Dance the night away video o.O

  • Take this over JUMP & WHY CAN'T THIS BE LOVE anyday!!!!!!!!!

  • Favorite song of VH

  • one of my fave vh tunes of all time, great drumming to , alex is so awesome

  • Wow. I've been a fan for 30 years and still love it.

  • love this song

  • He was playing this ine the late 70's people.. its just awsome... How could you not have thaught he was a alien from a guitar planet.. or a demon.. take your pick.. who else was playing like this at that time? oh man love those early van halen years

  • This is in my top five favorite VH songs. I think Eddie's playing on the solo is so great...Jesus. Thanks for putting this up. You have the absolute best VH stuff. All that old club days stuff is so killer!!! Woooo!

  • WE HAVE TO BRING ROCK BACK TO THE WORLD

copy and paste to as many videos as u can!!!!!!

  • This sounds like the Selland Arena boot. Too bad there isn't any video for that concert. The boots I've got are pretty good. I'd have given something important to see this one.

  • My favorite track from the second album! I can remember them performing this during the Fair Warning Tour in 1983 at the Worcester Centrum in Worcester, MA. Alex Van Halens thunderous, ultra-funky drumming and Eddies flame-thrower lead guitar pounded my tiny brain into a raw jelly

    %%##@@ MARVELOUS.

  • @MrFredfarkle...VH did not play Outta Love on the Fair Warning tour....sorry.

  • DLR, Plant and Steve Tyler all had that overly feminine thing going - it's what got them laid more times than this video will been seen...

  • Yes, they were like fies to sticky paper on him! LOL! Plus the "Ultra High Leg Kicks he did in concert where the real deal! Simply the best, and there is no way Sammy (or anybody for that matter) could duplicate such a unique voice, sound, and talent like the DaveSTHER! I know, I saw them in 1984 LIVE at the forum so I know the real deal when I see, and hear it! :-0000)))))))))Hal2012

  • Nobody, and I mean nobody, has that "David Lee Roth" look (you know the facial expressions. Too funny!), or moves. He was just the best , and Sammy should have stayed Sammy, and DLR should have stayed with VH & worked out the differences, but I think the Bro's of the group got too big headed, and jealous of DLR ,so the split. i.e. David's the one who left with all the ladies after the show! :-)) Yes, a guy's dream. :) Hal2012

  • @harryfassett ...No harry. The brothers did not get too big-headed. Dave started doing heroin. Thats what happened. Thats the root of why they eventually split.

  • Shitty guitars with shitty frets sound shitty in the hands of shitty guitarists, I guess.

    Hail Halen!

  • The song doesnt match the video, sucks!

  • When playing lead guitar it is very important to have an extra set of knee pads....blue ones....And the bass player?? rainbow suspenders..Oh, and you must be able to do a pirouette..on one foot......to be able to play rock.......uh...yeah

  • They played this song when I saw them back in the late 70's early 80s. I remember seeing them so many times. .my favorite band. Are there more videos that capture how hard hitting their music was & how crazy & fucked up Dave was? Those were the daze~

  • Why did he butcher the best solo of all times?! dang

  • Eddie had all his licks in his back pocket and pulled them out as he felt. If you listen to his live playing all of his licks were played in different tunes.

  • glad I saw them back in the day worth every cent then some

  • eddy vanhalen your hands must just be sore and your guitar playing needs some of the rust removed..........

  • totally had respect for this band until you came to my town and I payed half a days wage to see your performance..i am mad and demand more in return for what i got

  • not to mention big concert s in vancouver STADIUM GM PLACE SUCK unless you are 1 foot from the stage.....have your concerts out-doors or not .......comeback tour was a rippoff.....suck my balls at general motors place vancouver bitch.....echoey ......echoey......fuck you van halen turn your amps down.....and play a solo for me in the back row you cheap bitch eddy........fuck!!!!!!!

  • POOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

just took a shit on you van halen....peices of shit fuckers.....you sucked in vancouver .....fuckin 80 dollar rippoff no solo concert ticket....comeback rippoffs.............too bad for everyone its not the early 80s weed have a good band to listen too... ..

  • dude...go wipe your pussy!.............

  • As low as you can go, why make it harder than it already is!

  • And on those strat-type guitars the frets are superlow as opposed to a gibson, allowing really easy tapping

  • has more to do with how low the action is

  • yes but if your frets are really high you wont be able to get low action without your frets buzzing

  • NOT TRUE

I use 6100 frets on a huge neck and have no problem with tapping, it's all about how you set up the action!

  • @lidesnowi yes but if you used thinner and lower frets it would be ALOT easier, i tried it, it works

  • Yeah i agree that it can be a bit smoother to tap with lower frets,

but with lower frets i feel that your are loosing the control on legato vibrato and bending!

  • he does not

  • Just to correct the description. This song wasn't played after 1979, but it's on every circulating 1979 recording, and therefore safe to assume it was a fixture in the 1979 setlist.

  • Yeah Baby, I saw the boys rockin when

they went out to promote this second album. I was so impressed by them that i went back to see them the next

night front and center. 2 nights in a row

in their prime at the Oakland Auditorium

what impressed me the most was the

vocal harmony of Michael Anthony their

bass player . thats why he's hangin out

with sammy in "Chickenfoot" these days so he can sing killer harmony and play

blasting bass with satch and chad.

  • van halen II all i can say is this an beautiful girls.

  • the whole fuckin' album,bro

  • @jazzmaster1972

Yes. As low as it can go without "fretting out".

That is the best way to get those "tap harmonics" to sound.

  • Fucking AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

  • this is sweet!

  • THANK YOOOU SO MUCH!!

    I love this song!

Van Halen II is one of the greatest albums of rock, the only bad thing about it is that it's too short hahaha

  • ha ha aint that the truth bro lol !!!

  • great, great song!!!

  • BRILLIANT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • jaw droping brilliant. in 1979 van halen was heavy metal end of subject. BRILLIANT !!!!!!!!

  • WOW!- downsyndromeincoherence79! you're an IDIOT!!! Light Up the Sky, & Outta Love would be included in ANY box set- No band starts a side witha song they think is weak! OR regularly plays them Live- Bonehead!!

& another thing!, & another thing! if Navarro was a VH fan, it certainly don't show in HIS fuckin" playing!!!! or writing if that's what one would call it-

  • Yea this was one of my favorites off of VH II. Awesome Guitar Solo

  • Great tune and underrated...Great live version...as good as or better than the record IMHO...This funk metal thing definitely pointed in the direction that Jane's Addiction went-Navarro is a Van Halen freak as well:)

  • @garbeaj i used to make that same connection. This is totally Janes Addiction! And they caused the whole alt/rock beat that every band used in the early nineties. VH spills into everything! Thats why they rule!

  • @careypeak23 You are correct.

  • @garbeaj Dude...I hear Jane's in this tune too.

  • @phrydoom Oh yes...Dave knows lots of Van Halen note-for-note. He plays alot of Eddie's wide left hand stretched pattern licks in songs like "Ain't No Right" and "Three Days" among others...

  • @garbeaj well spoken.

  • @Guitfiddlejase Thanks:)

  • ...probably their heaviest song.....this live version is decent.

  • dave seriously rocks on this man , i do enjoy this but i dont thinks its one of eds best comps, solo is great though , i think dave saves this one . VH2 is pretty avg 2 me , yeah it really lacks what the rest of the dlr albums have , but gees its better then ou812 n balance. Idont mind 3 its not no where near as bad as people say it is . Light up the sky n beautiful girls off 2 arent brilliant

  • treat me like a FOOOOOOOO0O0O0O0O0OL!!!!!\

lol his screams are the best

  • fair warning is their heaviest album ,bro...give it a listen.its their best!

  • Quit looking at the screen and LISTEN. It's called music dufus... you can't SEE music. Shouldn't you be pretending you know how to play guitar on a video game or something? This is stellar music... the video is just a gift, a glimpse, at something you clearly don't understand.

  • this footage has nothing to do with the live performance of outta love again...dance the night away footage and whatever..I love VH but not impressed with video.

  • Nothing was as Heavy as these fuckers in 1979...NO ONE !!!!

    EPIC BRILLIANT.

  • This is probably one of the most under rated song from the Van Halen: great groove, great solo, great performance from David....

  • The studio solo to this song is probably one of my all time faves. :D

  • i loove this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Dimebag was buried with Eddie's famous Charvel with the yellow stripes, which was Eddies first handmade guitar.

  • Actually, His first handmade guitar was the black and whit e one.

  • Which he repainted with yellow stripes.

  • thats pretty awesome

  • it wasnt a charvel

  • The black and yellow guitar on the back of VH II is buried with Dimebag Darrell. Eddie Van Halen placed it in his casket at his funeral because Dimebag had said it was his favorite. However, Eddie stated that the guitar itself was not actually used on the Van Halen II; as it had only been repainted for the photo. Body and neck were by Wayne "Charvel". Eddie installed a humbucker in the bridge creating a Fat Strat.

    cheers. RIP Dime.

  • This is a great song

  • 5150 evh fn rocks yeah! where u score all this shit bro?

  • I remember listening to Kiss .And my Brother brought their first album home .That was it .Not knocking Kiss .But that was it VH

  • Kicks ass!

  • That spin by Diamond Dave at about 2:52 is ultra awesome.

  • doobie roled an t tops out

  • Ed was still hungry, you can tell by the the way he's playing here. lots a of fire and attitude

  • My fav tune off of VH 2

  • Hey man tonights about ME not your fucking hip..I say right here....

  • and i told dave, if he ever spoke to me like that again, he better be wearing a cup!

  • See the smiles, thats freedom. Today you see frowns, why, no freedom!! Get Freedom Back!!!

  • This is back when Van Halen had a big hairy cock and balls between it's legs and it was lookin' for hot pussy........

Man, I miss the glory days of the Mighty Halen!

  • bongs out an BJ"S FOR ALL___

  • eddie is the shit

  • The great Van Halen. I remember when this album came out. I bought it the first day and couldn't wait to get home and play it! I freaked out big time. Especially when I heard Spanish Fly for the first time. I was like "WAHT THE FUCK?!?!" I knew then for sure that Edward was the KING OF THE GUITAR! Good times. I really miss those days. Hope they release a new CD soon. Supposedly they are about to start recording it so... we shall see. You know it'll rock our balls off big time! HURRY UP ED! YEAH!

  • This pounds... VH II rules anyway...

  • Can never get enough of Van Halen!

  • one of the best VH tracks to date

  • Don´t ya just love it.

  • this is totally badass.....

  • mxr flanger

  • Album cut for sure.

  • this song still sends chills down me spine....crank it up!

  • dave s voice is so killer on this

  • my fav. van halen song i widsh they played this at the concert. wut a night. my dad bought me for my birthday front row seats and backstage passes. my favorite band. ill treasure that day forever. I have my first job this summer working backstage at the los lonely boys concert thatll be awesome too. Also Van halen was my first concert, an amazing one at that. Eddie was on fire!

  • the best is eruption

  • Some live footage would be better still, instead of the slideshow...

  • So-so sound quality but it's a damn good performance! There's an energy and intensity here that they they seemed to lose later.

  • This is pretty good quality compared to most of the other 79 tour boots circulating.Besides, it's 30 years old!

  • LOVE IT ~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Where did you get all this great footage, 5150EVH5150?

  • I seen them with Sammy in 93. and while some dont like Sammy, it overall was pretty tight for a live gig. Also, even know Dave is my favorite with VH, his live shows have never been fabulous vocally. I don't know how to respond to the Styx thing. Havent seen them live, wouldnt be fair to bash or praise

  • styx?? Wow, you need to go to more concerts. Theres alot of talent out there. Rush was one of the best live shows I've seen. OH, and Robin Trower was pretty awesome too. I saw Styx and REO together and really, I had more fun staring at all the mullets in the crowd than I did watching the show! lol

  • YOU MAKE ME SICK...DAMN BEANER

  • For some reason, Eddie doesn't have as much sustain on his live tone (as on vinyl), and it limits the speed on his solos.

  • what does sustain have to do with speed?

  • because the floating bridge floyd rose he used on stage robbed tone and sustain fromhis sound...he often used a korina explorer and other heavy/sustaning guitars in the studio and then overdubbed the whammy bar tricks with a non floating floyd rose...but NEVER a floating floyd rose in the studio as he did live

  • doesn't answer the question of what does sustain have to do with speed.
