  • @angiebaratta ......this cat was not brought from ethiopia is was brought from ogaden which is a somali land , but the two gov have been fight over it 4 yrs! but ogaden is a nation of its own! look it up.. that cat is more somali then ethiopian!!

  • He's beautiful! I have a cat that is 50% somali and she turns 6 months this week :)

  • my mom has two somali cats and she loves ém even more than me :(

  • thats such a beautiful breed, i think i will get a somali cat when i get older:)

  • WHAT A BEAUTIFUL CAT!

  • I used to see this type of cat in east africa, but never knew they where special.

  • Why is it called somali?

  • you let your cat outside???

  • @lacrazia3 why not if there's a fence in the backyard and you're supervising the cat

  • where did you get your cat from?

  • whats kind of cats this ?

  • @ANIMALESdad He's a Somali

  • @v6catfun beatiful cat is he outdoor

  • that beeping thing on his collar must be annoying as hell

  • This is my favorite kind of cats, somali cats! :D

    SOOO adorable!!! <3

  • what fluffy goodness!!! I just wanna smother teddy with kisses!!!

  • I saw teddy's kitten videos and I could've sworn he used to be darker...how'd his color change?

  • what a beautiful coat!!!!

  • That's not a electronic collar, is it?

  • hey somalis are the people of somalia...somali is the language of that country...and am guessing somali cat is from somalia

  • Nope. the Somali is a British breed. It's the long-haired version of the Abyssinian, another British breed.

  • no it's not ding dong. abyssinians are from ethiopia, and somalis share genetics with the abyssinians, and the reason they are not exactly the same cat but similar is because the somali has been bred with other types of cats. and for the other smart ass on here brocksta1. yes somalis have longer fur because in the 1960's they began cross breeding them idiot! but abyssinians whom they share genetics with, have very short hair that lays very close to the skin. some of even hate cold weather.

  • Um... look it up. They were bred in England. There is a story of the original Abbysinian being brought from Ethiopia to England, but they think it's a myth and even if it is true, then the breed would only be half Ethiopian, since two cats are needed to breed and only one was brought down. Dunno about the Somalis though, but that's the story of the Abbysinian. But Somalis were also bred in England.

  • Who said only one cat was brought to England? If the british are able to steal dozens of Abyssinian Ge'ez manuscripts and Italy steles that weigh tons, why can't they bring back more than one cat? I'm sure there were plenty for the taking along with countless other items currently in the British musuem.

  • @angiebaratta excuse me the name should say it all SOMALI CAT lol its from east africa where i'm from

  • @angiebaratta i don't know i read in an article that they were bred in

    Canada

  • @angiebaratta when my parents lived in somalia they had this breed

  • The Abyssinian was introduced into Britian. It's origins unknown but Abyssinia is an ancient Ethiopian empire, so one can assume it originated in Northeast Africa or SW Asia.

  • Yeah a long haired cat from one of the hottest places in Africa besides the desert..Makes since.

  • The East African horn is not a hot place.

  • its from the east african region and india. if you goto somalia, this and the abysinian are the main cat population.

  • somali cats are actually originally from ethiopia

  • meow!
