I'd love to have somebody teach me this stuff but paying $1500 is way over my budget. There's several Yogi's & Monks out there willing to teach all kinds of meditation technique without fees just because they want to help others. Personally the price says "shady" to me and adding a corporate label just makes me think there's a better alternative. Having $1500 to throw and not miss is a huge luxury to a lot of people including myself.
@LoveECPR More than five million people worldwide have learned TM — people of all ages, cultures, and religions. As with other educational organizations, we do our best to offer financial aid to those with demonstrated need. Ask your local TM teacher to find out more about reduced fees
@LoveECPR I was fortunate to find a teacher who charged on a sliding scale based on income and I paid significantly less thnt $1500. However, in retrospect, I would give anything to have learned this technique as it's values are truly priceless.
At first I thought TM was a bit expensive. But after having read a lot of the research I realized it was probably worth it. If someone was to now offer me a million dollars to stop practicing, I wouldn't even be slightly tempted. TM is the best thing that's ever happened to my life. If you really want something, you can get it--the honest way.
meditation is great, but it is insane to think that you have to pay somebody $1500 to tell you to sit still and repeat a mantra. get a friend to do that for free. or ill cut the cost in half and do it for $750! either way though, meditate!
@trank31337 - Perhaps it is as insane to attend Harvard or Yale. Why pay the huge tuition cost? Learn it yourself on the internet! Then again, some of us are aware that if we want the best results we should "go for the highest." Learn it from a trained teacher of Transcendental Meditation if you want to experience the proper result.

There's an old saying: "You get what you pay for". There's another saying: "If you spend peanuts you get monkeys". In other words, if you want the best and most effective form of meditation, which is backed by independent scientific studies and is endorsed by The American Heart Association etc, then look at learning TM.
@RonSkem Are you suggesting you can only learn the brand known as "TM" by spending relatively large amounts of money. Do you think someone could learn "TM" for free? Also, does spending more money always guarantee better results? Or, can you spend peanuts and get gold. Also, monkeys are rather expensive, just saying. Maybe you can trade monkeys for gold.

Its a very clear way to understand the mind, body, union. I love meditation, yet forget its importance sometimes. I have a new tomorrow to begin it!

@awakearound Is TM a form of meditation where you just focus on your breathing?
