  • I'll try that! It seems to be very helpful. Doese this work for speed and coordination?

  • wow, great advice here..

  • I appreciate all your nice comments, Thank You!

  • Thanks, I found this tips quite helpful.

  • Thank you for checking out the page!

  • Just like Joe satriani

  • Hey mate, beautiful guitar what's it called?

  • Thanks! It's a Fender Custom Shop Strat Pro that I have outfitted a bit differently. My favorite guitar for sure!

  • Quite engaging and fun. Thanks for sharing.

  • should help with my mando. great lesson man

  • great tips, ill give those a bash coz i cant even get through master of puppets without tenseing up :p

  • Thanks man! Puppets is a brutal tune. I'll try to post some right hand technique vids too!

  • That was great, including all the grimaces! I'd (We'd) like to see more (one on right hand exercises if possible). Easily the most interesting guitar lesson I've seen on youtube.

As for questions, I do have a few:

    1. In an open C major chord, why is the low E string muted if the high E isn't?

    2. Can the notes of a triad be from any octave?

  • Thank You for your compliments! I'll get one together on right hand technique ASAP.

Technically in a C major Chord, you can play the open low E string over the chord, however you would be inverting the C triad by putting the 3rd in the root. The problem is, that the open low string is typically louder than the rest, so playing it open over a bunch of fretted notes changes the tonality of the chord drastically.

  • The notes in a triad can be scattered over octaves. But the resulting chords won't be quite as dense sounding and will have much more air and ambiance to them, a very cool effect actually.

Also, try playing a G on the low E string in a C chord. The result is a VERY big sounding chord minus that dominating Major 3rd the open E produces.

  • I'm gonna get a grip master.

  • um... why? Grip masters don't help with callouses, intonation, tone, vibrato, or any other technique. They help you get your fingers stronger than they need too be. Think of it like this... A pro body builder is not going to be fast and agile. He may be able to knock you out in one punch assuming he can actually swing his arm. So a gripmaster will help you bend +2 whole steps but it does NOT make you a better player.

  • good tips, thanks man

  • No I don't get the point, keep doing that chromatic scale I wanna see your eyes explode! lol jk dude!

  • You got 2 blak eyes, or is it bad lighting?

  • It's bad lighting. Its all overhead, shining almost directly down.

  • I like your intensity, I wish I was there with you, your instructions are good, but those EYES!!! You look like something out of the Adams family my man. It's scaring the children!!! X) Hey, don't get angry, I'm with you. Cheers, may good things come to you and more!! Adios amigo!

  • Me, scaring people? Naw....

I was born with a Michael Myers mask on. Certified creep since.

  • Lol... creep? No way man, I think you're a good instructor. Just a funny anomaly (the lighting) that's very distracting. You made any more vids? Currently I'm going through a finger exercise stage to develop some speed in my playing, I'm a late starter. Hasta la vista.

  • how do you build right hand stamina(rhythm hand)?

  • With willpower. Practice practice practice, and then practice some more. In my case I stick to the same two or three exercises till madness threatens to set in. then I do it again... over a long period of time. Someone please pass me the Cuban rum.

  • Basically he's right! Doing it over and over again is the way too make it happen. I do have this trick were you move your thumb like a light switch turning on and off, it allows me to pick triplets and quads, much faster plus alleviates some work from your wrist. I'll try to get a vid for that. The 1-2-3-4 exercise is one of the best for alternate picking too. Just keep trying to go faster and faster and use a metronome.

  • What ever. You don't have a clue what you are talking about. They are called finger weights. Strap them on stupid.

  • Oh, you innocent, innocent moron. I find it no coincidence you mention a strap on in your comment.

  • thanks so much

  • My Pleasure! I hope they help. If there are specific things anyone would like some insight on, please ask away! I have 7 years teaching experience.

  • dude i realy like the strat, its juss like david gilmours, did u buy a seperate pickguard or did u get it somehow r wat?? id reaaly like to know.... =)

  • Yeah actually I did just buy a black pickguard and left the pickups in the middle and neck with the white covers. I put a humbucker in the bridge too which makes it sing. My favorite out of my collection. I work at the store I did the video in so if you want me to find you one, they are only like $30.

  • :) im gonna start doing this
