It's really hard to compare the two because they're so differently done. You have to bear in mind it was written to suit Ben Gibbard's voice. I prefer the original too, but it's an interesting interpretation.

I think it's the only song (and this cover specifically, not when it's by Death Cab For Cutie) that can make me bawl my eyes out without me having to imagine a story behind it or having felt like shit to begin with. Truly remarkable.

And it's not entirely flawless, but that's what makes it so unique and special, at least for me. Hearing Amanda's voice break a little makes it that more devastating and emotional and just real.
