I've listened to the song, and I agree that the album version sounds higher, but if you listen carefully, perhaps Sonny's pulling a Jimmy Urine. Jimmy sounds like he's singing an octave higher on the album, but I know he's not. Whereas with Sonny, it doesn't seem at all like he can go any higher than the note he hits when he sings the word "hide". Not even when he's not live. His voice is just naturally high pitched like that.

well, have you ever tried singing to both this and the album version? you'll see a difference. i am a musician myself and i know that a lot of the times musicians play things on their album that sounds very different than what they play live. a band called anchors for reality has a song where the singer can hardly sing his part. the only reason he sang it on the album is because he got drunk so it wouldn't hurt when he sang that high.
