Music around 2:35-2:45 and 4:51-4:55 gives me chills every time, there´s a sense of anticipation and unease in some way, as if something was bound to happen. And then the contrast of pure beauty. Wonderful.
The Olympic perfomance of the same program was even better.
@annagreete I totally agree about the Olympic performance. Especially after reading Johnny's book and hearing about the emotions going through his head for that performance compared to this one. He wasn't too happy with this one, but his Olympic performance really was the performance of a lifetime for him. :)
He deserved Bronze in Vancouver! The judges told that his Fallen angels program was too simple. I saw my whole life in his presentation. Maybe my life is too simple :)
he is aware about the politics of figure skating. The judges do not want to admit the fact the either girl or boy has to be in touch with both their masculinity and femeninity in order to reach the ultimate of the sport. The jumps and turn takes much effort and the art takes such delicate touch. Weir has both and that is why to watch him is to be touched by the sublime. thanks mr. weir.
I first saw Johnny Weir skate in 2005 and became a fan. He's good and has been consistant. I don't understand the scoring system is figure skating so I can't say much, however, I just thought that he wasn't given his just score in the short program and this performance was so close to perfect. That's my take and I'll stick to it.
I think that it is a medley of at least three (and maybe four) songs. One song is Yo-Yo Ma's version of Nocturne and the very last song is Fire by the Corner Stone Cues.
Oh no! I absolutely LOVE Johnny and am very worried. I'm sure nerves played a part in the jumps and I think/hope he can fix that part. However, could the "music choice be any worse? I still find myself humming Otonal and Yunona & Avos but I can"t even find music here much less highs and lows. I'm also beginning to think that David Wilson wants Adam to win. O Johnny, even your spins were basic. Please add some variety a la the Korean "Impressed" program. LOVE you ,but sadly, not this program.
I never understand why the men's points are so much higher. Most can't do triple-triples like Asada, Kim, or Rochette. Most have a triple axel that is about as consistent as Asada's. The men persistently avoid the Lutz, and of course - none have the spirals, spins, line or elegance of any of the ladies - well, Weir does! But Kim could out-jump him in her sleep.
But these things go in cycles. 4 years ago, Men's figure skating was exciting and the women had stalled.
This music is haunting....Johnny's artistry and gracefulness sweeps you away to another world. Amazing!

His jump at 1:39 is beautiful. The whole program is beautiful. The music, his costume, his skating, his hand gestures...everything.

he lost the 3A last seasons and hasn't got it back since. It's sad. What the hell is Galina doing for him? I see no improvement over last season.

I think he would be fighting for bronze in the ladies event. He needs the quad to medal, IMO.
