To answer your first question (if you want my opinion), Lucifer deserved eternal damnation for his betrayal. When I used the word inevitably, I was referring to the creation of hell as a fitting place for Lucifer, and his followers.

No one deserves eternal damnation. All creatures have an evolutionary reason for pain, emotional and physical. It allows you to remove yourself from an unfavorable situation. This is why CIPA patients have such a hard time, they have no incentive to remove themselves from a fire. To punish anyone eternally is unrighteous, because it removes the opportunity for rectification in favor of meaningless suffering. If there is no possibility for redemption, then give them nonexistance, not torture.

When God cast one third of the angels out of heaven along with satan (whom they followed), hell was inevitably created. Hell is separation from God. Hell exists due to lucifer's rebellion. The term "lake of fire" could just be a metaphor used to describe the agony of that seperation.

If you follow satan (as a third of the angels did), then you follow him to his destination. "Man cannot serve two masters. He can only love one and hate the other". Perhaps that's why you argue so adamantly.

The doctorine of hell being "separation from God" is not a Biblical concept.

For example, II Thessalonians 1:8-9 reads, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power.

I am not sure, but I believe that the first to actually use this "hell as separation" argument was pope John Paul II. An obvious error.
