  • There's nothing worse than a camera man who thinks the film is about him.

  • @pljcbsn3306 Sorry man... the person who hired Ribot and asked me to film the gig wanted exactaly what you see... feel free to contact and book MrRibot if you have any particular ideas for a video

  • nice job filming the mic. haha!

  • I like a lot the camera zoom

  • @MrEugeneStolbowie He's no outsider. He plays with all the best people! He toured with McCoy Tyner!

  • could somebody tell me what song he plays from 1:44 to 2:40 it reminds me of tom waits, but I'm not so sure. is there a studio recording of this one?

  • @amnesiacphlgm The song should be I'm Confessing (That I Love You)...Its available on cd...Its on the Saints album!Hope this helped...Ciao

  • @GioelePagliaccia1 thank you so much for your response! still I'm a bit cluesless.. I listened to the song on the record, but couldn't find the part from this video that begins at 1:44 - could you tell me which part of the song you meant? St. James Infirmary from the same record also sometimes reminds me of this particular part, but I don't think that it's the exact same thing, at least I don't hear it.

  • @GioelePagliaccia1 though if you look at the first video that pops up when you type in "confessin" and "marc ribot", at 5:00 the same song starts (the part I originally looked for is played at 5:50). and in the description it says I'm confessin' that I love you, so maybe this is it and he only plays this part live. I don't know, I'd love to know :(

  • @amnesiacphlgm it's hard to tell... but being a musician myself,I can tell you that a lot of the times it's natural to insert melodies and musical lines that belong to one song into another song and viceversa...sort of like talking in english and putting a spanish word here and there! But I believe that there is a video of Ribot playing this at The Stone and it's not Im confessing:Im sure of that...so maybe you can find your answer there my friend!Ciao...

  • Brilliant

  • it's amazing how he manages to make his guitar sound like a Koto here!

  • I love old teisco guitars.

  • uh, that was a response to "siliconjohn" by the way.

  • ese alets! ya me imaginaba que te gustaban los guitarristas genialmente dañados! has oído a Gary Lucas? bastante interesante tambien!

  • No. absolutely not.

Oh, for some people, yes :it's not as boring as conventional structures.

You have to consider that the music you're listening to is not necesseraly less weirder... you're just accustomed to it and that's what defines your musical field.

It takes time to "enter" in the world of such a great musician that's RIbot and it's the same for others.

Just read about the emergence and the reasons of the free jazz in a time, you'll probably understand a few components of all this. :-)

  • anyone know what kinf of brand, model is this guitar ?

  • teisco

    It is old japanese guitar.

  • I have the same one, except two pickups and tortoise shell pickguard instead of black. Made by Teisco for Decca to sell the the US. "Decca" on the headstock. Same record company that rejected the Beatles. Wanna buy it?

  • Does anyone which Fender amp he's using? A Vibroverb? Twin Reverb?

Absolute delight to listen to and to watch.

  • Vibrolux, but don't quote me on that.

  • Cheers. I didn't realise how expensive the top-end Fender amps are. They're all like £700+! Thats my plan out the window :(

  • Killer guitar, tremendous vibe. Transcendental mojo at work. Wow.

  • Oh man, I love this video, thanks for posting! Long live Ribot!

  • GIANT MICROPHONE!

  • Could anyone please tell me what song he is playing at 1:43? This is wonderful!

  • perhaps a django reinhart song

  • ?!

    not at all///

  • it's "bouncin' around"

  • breathtaking

    thx for posting

  • The last clip (with the pencil) is an "etude" from John Zorn's Book of Heads. And it's not improvised, it's really written ... haha amazing !

  • Thank you! Superb!

  • Drawing from (among other things) Asian music, alt-Americana, the blues and post-Bailey free improv this is a tour-de-force of experimental geetar - but don't let that disuade you; it's entertaining too!! Superb. Thanks Marc.

  • ribotic!!!

  • that is art

  • that pencil move ripped!

  • reeeeeeeeeeebow
