How the hell did you get fraps running without any lag?! Well, I have a 5850 and the ultra config runs sweet! No lag, always smooth. 1920x1080 resolution.
impressive, though if you want more frames, i would get another 4890. btw have you tried the reallifesys mod. if u do, you'll be surprised to see it nearly real life graphics.
Real smooth, you must be happy with your system! Anyways, i'm buying the same CPU as you, though i'll use an ATI 4850 graphics card. is there any major differences in terms of fps?
Ah, i see.. Well i'm just hoping i'll get at least an average FPS of 30 with 1440x900 resolution ( don't need AA or AF ) with the ATI 4850 together with the Phenom II X4 940.
I've always had an image that radeon graphics cards overheat like crazy in a really short time. is there a difference in overheating between radeon and nvidia?
The config file really helps out in fps, but on my system I notice a big drop in image quality and a weird grain over the screen using the ultra high config file.
I'm using two 4890 BE in crossfire. You can see the drop in quality easy when you just look straight down. The ground textures are almost gone, just a few tiles going on. The grain shows up there.
But the config file makes my fps go up by 40~50%. The performance gain has to come from somewhere.
I'm gonna get a new MOBO cuz it turns, the one I have now is only PCIE16 not 2.0 which is what I need for the 4890. Ima get the GIGABYTE GA-EG45M-UD2H, check it out tell me what you think if you want. The integrated graphics are a lot better than the one I have now (200% faster :)) which should hold me over until i get a GPU.
Yea I was thinking about that but I'm sure when they are released they will cost considerably more than the current high end cards. What I'm hoping for is that when they come out the 4890's will drop in price. Cuz I'm not a huge PC gamer anyways, even the 4890 is still overkill in my eyes. The 4890 is way more than what I was initially looking for if you can remember back when I was asking you my first questions.
How about a 4870? If you need a GPU now, they are really cheap. If not, go for a 4890 which is basically the same thing with higher clock frequencies.
Naw I'm most definitely going to get the 4890. Unless something unforeseeable happens of course. I've already got my C2D E8500 which I am going to wait until I get my mobo to put in. Ive heard great things about it.
there is no ultra high..

Possibly. This config is mainly for the 4870/4890s so I'm not sure how it'll perform on the 4850.
Yeah I'm definitely happy. Now I just need a third party cooler.

At that resolution, the 4850 should do fine.

Personally I don't see that. Are you using a 4870 or 4890? Because the config is mainly for those graphic cards.

Hmm I don't really notice it. Maybe it's more noticeable on Vista but on XP, it looks somewhat the same as Very High.

You should hold out for the DX11 cards. Their performance are a big jump.
