I LUV THE HUBB CITY, BUT I FEEL HER ON THIS SONG CUZ I LUV LUBBOCK BUT I COULDNT WAIT TO GET THE HEEL OUT OF THERE....AN THERE ISNT A STRIP ANYMORE LMAO THE CITY IS WET NOW-A-DAYS... BUT OTHER THEN THAT I LOVE THIS SONG
I have pretty much lived in Lubbock all my life and I really hate it! So during the summer I take alot of vacations to California and Washington :) those are my 2 favorite places
I first started playin' when I was a kid in Lubbock and I still go back for Christmas holidays with dear friends and my experience of Lubbock is the people are wonderful...a tourist asked a farmer outside of town what the folks were like, the farmer asked what were they like where you came from...he said "intolerant" farmer replied yeah here too. next traveler asked the same thing and told the farmer the folks were great back home...farmer said...same here...guess I had a point to make
I dont really know whether you guys know James Taylor's song Slap Leather, but I see some very great musical simularities between those two songs...which is a great thing cause the dc and james taylor did some very good songs together. Its an awesome song anyway.
the idiot who said that she's just pissed that nobody wants her back in her home town, you obviously don't know how to L.I.S.T.E.N., which is the problem with many in america today: the WHOLE POINT OF THIS SONG IS NATALIE SAYING SHE DOESN'T WANT TO GO BACK, SHE DOESN'T NEED THESE PEOPLE AND THEIR HYPOCRISY ANYMORE. I mean, at a time when schools in Lubbock prohibited sex education, it's town also had the highest percentage of teenage pregnancies--what does THAT tell you?
I am originally from Lubbock, Texas and I know exactly what Natalie Maines is talking about! Lubbock, Texas has a serene look and some nice people, however behind all of that they are judgmental and live by a double standard. It can be an ignorant city, but it should be in our best interest to change it. once the older generation of Lubbock is gone we have a new one to educate and set an example for!
I moved to San Diego, california to pursue an acting career and also hope to make it big, to show thos ewho still reside in Lubbock that there is more to life beyond the city limits of LOOP 289!!!
.. i agree with you on this...it seems its the "older" generation in lubbock with this kind of attitude..i am from lubbock and the younger people are more open and less judgemental...
THanks! I graduated from Lubbock high school one year early back in 2001. I immediately joined the military afterward, prior to 9/11. It was an adventure from there. I recently went back to Lubbock last month for the holidays and was surprised to see how much it is changing, but without progress. But like any other place, there is still hope for Lubbock, Texas... LOL

Left Lubbock in 76', what a sh*t hole of a place!! There is no tolerance for anything
not WASP. I am Irish Catholic and kick alot of dumb red neck butt!!

you have that impression because there was tantamount to a gas staion and a chicken farm in lubbock in '76.
There are people other than dumb red-necks in lubbock, but i won't deny there is a hefty supply.

Transcendence, Dixie Chicks listen to this marvelous band, part country, part funk, part cojones - as Demi said in G.I.Jane, suck my staccato funk.
