I learnt most of my Irish stuff from a series of amzing books published by David Mallinson, called "101 Essential Irish Session Tunes"...there is a whole series of these books, listing all the most popular jigs, reels, hornpipes, airs & polkas used in most pub sessions.Try ordering a copy from any branch of Hobgoblin Music,UK
Yep!That WAS me - wot a small world! All these years on,I STILL feel pangs of guilt for the POOR Halifax staff - after listening to the frankly bloody awful racket I made for 2 hours at a time, they then had to count all the BUCKETS of loose change that was chucked in my case! All this, in between teaching piano to TERMINALLY tone deaf brats,& GRIMLY determined OAPs for 10 long, miserable years...NOT so happy days!!;o)
Glad you like it!I was lucky enough to find this cute 1920s mandolin, back in 1995 for just £95 in what is now Hobgoblin Music in Manchester.Had to get new finger board & tuners fitted;it is not loud, but has the sweetest tone of any mandolin I have ever played :o)

What's wrong with Jewish Irish? The greatest character in literature is the Irish Jew, Leopold Bloom in James Joyce's Ulysses.
