I used to watch this stream where every night they'd play a lineup of really old, really bad, video game cartoons. Included in the Lineup was this show, Captain N. Everything about this show is incredibly perverse on the nature of all things that is good and pure. It's rare that I rage about anything related to my hobby, but dear god, this show can press all the wrong buttons on all the wrong menus.

The design of Captain N's Simon Belmont might be the prototype of "Dashing Super Guy" from the North American Kirby's Dream Land 1 commercial, as well as the titular character of Nintendo of America's SNES game, Tin Star. In fact, Nintendo of America was behind all I mentioned.

Saban Productions sure does create problems, from their own version of The Thunderbirds to Hallo Spencer to even the popular Super Sentai series.

Captain N was actually modeled after typical high school students.

Andy Heyward's company DIC went bankrupted because he's an idiot. Captain N was an interesting idea but poorly executed even more so the the short story in Nintendo Power it's based on. The 1st season wasn't too bad but after that it really went down hill. Gamers could make a better version of this

I hated the fact they made Simon a coward and Mega Man near ineffectual just to make the kid the unchallenged main hero. The obvious "you MUST cheer for Captain N!" vibe the cartoon had going on turned me off to it in about 8 episodes back in the early 90s. It was the Mega Man centered episode that sealed the deal for me.
