Sad loss, it seems in this case Gulfstream really pushed the limits of this airframes capability if one engine was unable to keep flight steady they may need to be looking at a larger engine or redesigned wing
@Giggidygiggidy12 ummm wrong, they were trying a high pitch short takeoff but the pilot pulled back too far on the yoke which caused the aircraft to stall which then caused the aircraft to smack into ground after only 30 ft or so of altitude, the crew survived the crash but was killed by the fire
@herrochief Thank you for the correction Im sure the family of those lost take console in knowing they survived the crash only to be BBQd by the fire, I had read a different reason that they were attempting flight with one of the two engines and thats what caused the accident
@akelodmc Yea, when they want to do tests like that then they should have Bob Hoover perform it for them. Of course, he may want to throw in a few rolls and loops just to keep from being bored.
This is very sad indeed. My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Gulfstream. There is significant risk in aviation, especially with all new designs. The flight test crew is willing to take these risks to ensure the end result is a safe product. It's beyond unfortunate that this happened. But we must remember that it's not that unusual for flight test aircraft to push the limits and experience situations well beyond those of normal operations.
Very unfortunate. We should never take for granted the peril that test pilots put themselves in, to assure the safety of a plane for the masses. Looks like the guys in the tower had an unbelievable view of the whole incident. Suppose that it is fortunate that the plane didn't strike the tower. Just a bad deal all the way around.
this proves that even the most advanced jets expected to revolutionize the industry are not perfect. yet let us remember that whatever failed on this aircraft will of course be thoroughly investigated and preventative of future loss of lives. may God bless the lives of their families.
I couldn't believe it when I read about this crash on the Internet this morning. It reminds me that every machine can fail sometimes, even if it is a super modern long haul business jet. I hope that the investigation will go well and Gulfstream will be able to continue the 1800 flight hours FAA certification plan. This is a truly sad moment of aviation. I feel sorry for the families who lost their fathers and husbands.
The tip of the left wing touched the concrete which made the front wheel collapse at a fast speed. Tho.. the dammage looks way more serious, i hope the investigation will go well to reveal why this happened.

@Giggidygiggidy12 it's also a twin engine turbojet, not a single engine

well gulfstream... things like this tend to happen when you FLY WITH ONE ENGINE TURNED OFF!!!
i know it was for testing but seriously... isnt there another SAFER way to test engine failure

@FloridaRaider - It was a flight test accident. The folks on board were all company employees. Two pilots, two engineers.

@FloridaRaider 2 company pilots and two blue collar mechanics, certainly not rich people
